General / Off-Topic Star Trek Picard.

It started off with some promise because Picard but for me it was the final 2-3 episodes that I hated the most in particular the finale that felt rushed and looked as if they ran out of money.
That what make me ed off, there was actually a good show there, there were just to many plot holes and to many things that were rush, unexplained.

Not really. The issue with star trek is that people only remember the stand out episodes, but there was a lot of dross too. I've been re-watching a lot of it and jeez some of the episodes are awful.

I have the BluRay set of the original series and yes some of it is awful, the effects are risible and the sexism is crazy mad. However, it was of its time and has many gems, including calling-out some of the societal issues of the day.

(In a related vein - Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In is available to stream on Amazon Prime and there are times when the sexism and racism jumps up at you, leaving you open-mouthed in disbelief and then you see that they were actually making a point. )

Oh, I agree with that, but I'm also talking about TNG, DS9, and Voyager. TOS had some superb episodes, just like all the other series. But even some of the standout episodes could have been done better with more time. Yesterday's Enterprise, a great episode, but it could have been much better if it was a double episode, the best of both worlds could easily have been four episodes long instead of two, giving the story much more depth and a better build up because even though it was two episodes, it still felt rushed.

As it is all one big story, that's a bit difficult to do as I don't remember the separate episodes. I can't think of one standout episode, I just liked the series overall. I thought the second series was a bit better than the first though. The actor that played Captain Pike was great (I also like Lorca and the mirror universe stuff). I liked the throwback to the TOS pilot episode and that the Enterprise bridge resembled the original series enterprise and I enjoyed the overall stories on all the series.

I don't get the hatred to be honest.

Yep, the entire first season of TNG was burro. It's lucky it didn't get canned in the first year. The writing of Picard and STD is problematic I agree. I don't have an issue with Burnham, it's not like ST is lacking in people that can do everything. If you believe TNG, every year Starfleet only recruit the top 3 geniuses in the entire galaxy or something equally preposterous, so yeah, STD is in fine company with dumb ideas and writing.

You know what some of the best shows ever were? 1 series long. That's it. Did they all get cut far too short? Absolutely. But, it's better for a TV show to leave you with wanting more, than making you feel it dragged on for too long. I feel like a lot of modern writers could learn from that lesson.....

And some of it was brilliant. The problem with current trek is that they keep trying to tell a single story over 10 or more episodes. The problem with that is you not only need a story that can fill ten episodes of plot but you need to make most of those ten eps interesting and the story need to be consistent. They have failed three times on the trot to do that.

For you maybe, but not for me and many others. I found them thoroughly enjoyable and interesting to watch. Maybe I've just got a better attention span then you guys.
