Start hunting! - A guide to get started in PvP

yep, against griefers... I read the guide several times and doesn't look the case at all, but yeah.. fully armoured weapon patrolling a system looking for griefers, and waiting.. waiting.. to kill someone.

I guess we all have our limits, I'm still here in my multipurpose ship, playing in open, barely survived some pvp and wining others.

For me PVP doesn't mean -get the most heavily armoured ship in the game and get ready for combat- it means player vs player, and hey, if I die in my ship that is fine. I don't have to kill the other ship if it's repairing and ammo cost more than my rebuy I'd say I didn't lose.

PvP means also defending and dodging, the guide only covers -kill in a rush kind of build and run like no tomorrow- which IMO is incomplete for a PvP approach, but then again, just an opinion.

Adding: pirating is PvP also, this guide doesn't cover anything but killing, so it should be renamed to professional PvP or a more suitable title.
PVP it's an acronym for Player(s) Vs Player(s). Nothing less nothing more. The title it's fine.

It depends of your combat method.
If you silent run, your opponent cannot target you, unless you open fire at him or stay within very close range (around 500m) for several seconds.
So if you joust your opponent at high speed, and fire an alpha burst at the last moment (like frag cannons for instance), you will be very hard to hit.
Oh by the way, I forgot to mention that, when fighting skilled FdL commanders for instance, it is as much of a challenge against a shielded one as an unshielded one. Shield and shieldless loadouts require different combat methods of course.

I still don't understand the rant about shield / shieldless loadout. In the end, it diversifies the loadouts available and both have strengths and weaknesses.

Trust me I know all the tricks in the book see below. I am just speaking the true against a single skilled shield tank opponent silent running build is at the disadvantaged. I didn't say it was impossible.

Sure!
Any PvP oriented thread is always worth reading in this dark age of "who cares, ED is not PvP oriented anyway" :)

What topic(s) do you have in mind?

After the Vulture people tend to decide between FAS, Python, FDL and eventually a Clipper to use for PvP. I'd like to cover the different setups (stealth tank, hybrid, shield tank, etc.) as well as wing strategies. Additionally i would cover the focus of subsystems and advanced power priorities and how to react to malfunctions.

That should be enough for a single guide as I would have to write a damn book to cover all the other topics (for example big ships or psychology of pilots) :)

Strengths, weaknesses and strategies to use / against different build sound to me like awesome topics, sir!
Have some rep for now and can't wait to see your new thread started! :)
