Newcomer / Intro Starting the game's tutorial on PC...Help

Hi. Brand new player. Feeling stupid... I have started the game, am sitting in my ship and the trainer tells my to "select" Auto Launch to Begin. Using the keyboards arrows keys, I have highlighted that. I am assuming that I have to somehow "enter" the highlighted selection. But, hitting the "enter key" only seems to bring up the "chat" display...
How do I activate the "Auto Launch"?
Thanks to anyone that takes the time to help me out!

Welcome!

Indeed, it appears that the spacebar is the default keyboard mapping for the UI Select function.* You'll undoubtedly find the number of things to map quite daunting for a while - it is! This particular item is found by expanding the Interface Mode branch (see image)...

No need to feel stupid, there is a lot to learn. Most of it is "obvious" and sensible once you know whats going on, but until you do it can be rather tricky.
No such thing as a stupid question here. There are lazy questions, and ranting non-questions which may not get the helpful response you expect, but in the vast majority of cases you will get the help you want here without snark.
