State of the Game

Aw, crap.

Just found out that Sir Clive Sinclair has died. I have a ZX81 on my desk, and I first played the orginal Elite on a Spectrum+ (oh, the joy of Lenslok!). Not to mention things like Jet Pac, Ground Attack and groundbreaking stuff like Tau Ceti and Starglider.

Take the p*** about the C5 if you want. But a genuine British genius is now gone.

o7, Sir Clive
Tau Ceti was an awesome game, always had problems loading it from my tape cassette if I remember correctly.

it had 1kB RAM - in the picture is as well the 16kB RAM extension plugged in on it's rear side

Mandatory link now that you mentioned Starglider:

I wasn't even in planning at that time when it came out - born 1988. But my partner collects old games and we have as well quite a few old hardware pieces, one of them is that sinclair ZX81 with 16kB RAM extension and a thermo printer - that small box on the right.

I never had a ZX81, we were too poor lol. Imagine a world in which a 1K computer was an object of envy. The printer was hilarious, as you said it used thermo paper and was tiny. They used to have a display model in the WH Smiths near me, including the printer, which was always out of paper because young scallywags used to go in and get it to print rude messages, to the general dismay of the staff :D

The man is gone but for all of us we are richer for him being here - for a little while - would that we could all leave such a legacy.

guess, those living on this property or those before them living there just named it after what they thought in this moment like "well, we won't find better nowhere else" - and so guess where this property is?

Nowhere Else Road in Nowhere Else, Tasmania

what I really like with Nowhere Else is that it's landscape has something very english to it - grassy, softly rolling hills and trees other than just eucalyptus or rainforest. Just look at it, that is nearly like it would be in Wiltshire County on the Salisbury plains, England - but it's Nowhere Else, Tasmania.

Who the hell puts beans on a fry-up to begin with? They ain't fried, they don't belong there.

Nor is regurgitated beer, but I've seen it on a fry up before.

Now I openly accept this is both obtuse (as is my trending style this week), and the above is written in complete ignorance of the last few pages, as I have had the worst day of the three where I've been, up at the "old chairman's Grampa Simpson story style meeting" up the Citi tower. In brief, of the 11 present, I wouldn't have been the first out the window had they opened....

Aside from that, thinking about Phil Mitchell's exploding noggin has kept me mentally distracted, but I think it has been 12 hours since our RN posted Phil the Banger.

I should probably also add that I have no idea why wrote all of the above, but again it is per my form card, and frankly Red's fry up comment was an opportunity too good to miss.

I nearly forgot, hello.

Oops, forgot I quoted another message to annoy Leo too!

If I have a fry up from a takeaway it comes with beans and i'll generally use them as a dip pot as you know my general aversion to beans in all forms. However, if I have a homemade fry-up I don't have beans with them.

Pulsist.

yeah you could buy 2 good gaming computers nowadays for what these 3 pieces had cost when they came out - computer hardware was extremely expensive in the 70s and even in the early 80s.
