State of the Game

Imagine thinking anything a company says can be considered a promise.
to me their whole argumentation now means one thing to me - namely "we have given up on the game, we might eventually make it work somewhat, but there is not much more to expect" - and that is how it will be, mark my words.

Hand on heart I can say that if it were to shutter tomorrow I wouldn't care.

Life is far too short to get worked up about a game shutting down.

nah, it won't shut down just yet - the 4th product life cycle can go on for years to come, if there are enough players buying from their shop - it just means, there is no significant further development and a lot less staff is running the show for as long as the revenue from it is justifying the effort.

I think about a game shutting down a bit different - if second life would shut down, I would be disconnected from a lot of friends - I don't have the email addy from all of them, maybe we would find each other because those friends where I have the addy might know others where I don't have it and so on - but we would loose an environment, where we could meet and have fun times together - it would be a disaster.

This is quite a thread, I'm guessing no one has mentioned that we need ship boarding animations and the ability to walk around our ships? That thought came to me last night in a dream and I couldn't wait to log on to the internets to share my idea!
That's a good idea!
Almost as good as the one I had this morning - wouldn't it be cool if Odyssey had full VR support?
Can't believe nobody has thought about this before!
