State of the Game

Isn't that exactly how the forum works though? Short bursts of junk posts?
yes, one engages in a a forum by reading the posts that interest you, tell people off for being WRONG on the internet, argue with them about them being wrong on the internet, let off steam in another thread or two, post a cat meme, and then off to do something else until the itch to see what that idiot that was wrong on the internet has written as a reply gets too much

Just like Usenet. Except we had to draw our own cat memes.

In ASCII.

I hate footy.. I just read it here, on the innernet...
Hay! I hate football too. I was trying to figure out how to play Stellaris last night (still clueless after 90 minutes of irritation). Gave up and went downstairs to see Zoe watching the footy again...

Sorry, had to pinch this...

Thankfully she turned over as soon as I entered the room!
Wise move...

You might be careful using that picture after what it triggered later in the thread :D

As much as I was waiting for a female Dr Who, what we got was truly cringe worthy!

What we got was 'that expression', you know the awful cringy expression Jodie Wittaker does... I couldn't find a pic of it sadly.

I did find this though.

Being a country good ol' boy, I thoroughly despise this whole "quota culture."

I mean, somebody raises the interesting point that there aren't enough of [insert group here] in movies.

Studios insert member of [insert group here] but utterly fail to make them interesting/believable, check off quota checkbox, pat themselves on the back.

<Facepalm>

Sadly true. They usually fail to understand the minority group they are trying to engage, that and not actually giving a fart about representing the minority group in the first place.

Usually because they didn't get the point to begin with. They just thought that slapping a different person in there was ALL that it would take.

To be fair, sometimes they do get it right, though. Take BSG2. There was a huge uproar about turning Starbuck into a woman and, I have to admit, I was one of the ones being miffed about it, but mainly because I thought it was yet another "quota" thing.

Turns out it wasn't and I am now firmly of the opinion that BSG2's version of Starbuck is vastly superior to the original. Same goes for Boomer. Because the writers weren't just doing the idiotic "token" thing, they actually did their JOBS. And did them well.

I don't know the shows that you reference here, but it good to know that they make an effort some of the time!
