State of the Game

i thought powerplay had destroyed that "latest stream has more dislikes" thread .... If powerplay can't kill it.. i'm afraid we may all be doomed.

The new 'waaah! We can't be mean to developers any more' thread is in need of the Powerplay treatment.

The number of people who can't tell the difference between "don't abuse developers" and "I can't complain about the game" is frankly depressing.

the number of people who think game developing == coding these days is kinda depressing too.

when someone says they have a game built on an engine. That means the code developing has been done. The people who "develop" a game that is built on an engine, generally dont code. They use the engine via the tools built to make using the engine easy and not require programming. That's the whole point of a game engine. At most you do a little scripting. But everything else should be mostly point and click drag and drop type stuff that looks like you're always working in a 3d cad program or such.

The problem (one of the core ones) is, cobra as a game engine sucks. Partly because fdev is the only place using it. And by now, cobra has been modified for ED so much, it probably is so far de-synced from the tools made to use the engine that everything someone does to the game anymore creates unknown results.

I've just been reading it. To be honest, I don't understand why people are debating it. Surely common decency dictates that you criticise in a reasonable manner?

The only caveat I would suggest to that would be with non-native English speakers who find it difficult to post or articulate without using translation sites.

It's just a bunch of keyboard warriors complaining that 'the man' is 'taking their freedom of speech'.
I don't need that in the forums - I can just look out of the window 🙄

i just heard something extremely interesting

that the mods aren't supposed to mod the threads they're participating in.

Since like all of them have participated in here. Does that make us fully vaccinated?
Yaffle.

However, with all the 'Praise Brebus' stuff we've been doing were all on negative infraction points, so we can burn through those for a while anyway.

Well, Darth 'void heretic' Ender is on thin ice.
