pudding has a different meaning in english though - this is more like a flavored custard - a dessert pudding is something like this here

but there are as well hearty puddings like steak and kidney pudding

not to be mixed with steak and kidney pie

Never eaten victorian soylent green and I will never touch one because of that Burton film/musical. Hollywood is destroying my life

You lot really need to grow up rurally. Anything gory makes my stomach rumble now.

:D S
On my last birthday I really wanted crispy aromatic duck. I had a hissy fit because I could not get it anywhere, nor get a duck so I could cook it myself.

So my wife went out and got a whole duck and I had to chop its head off. Hunger and anger drove me to make delicious food. All the time the duck was staring at me...

Takes me back to the mid noughties...
...dispatching 22 Muscovy Ducks (all males) over a couple of hours one Summer day, hanging the carcases for 5 days before stripping the chest muscle (censor will break the actual word) which was a kilo or so for each bird, and enjoying 'home made' corn-fed duck (and chicken often also) for the rest of the year!

It is a lot of work if you want to make pigeon soup, first I had to learn how to kill pigeons, my parents once told me that there will be pigeon soup the next day. So they sent me to the basement where I found a basket with 6 cooing pigeons and only had my bare hands. After 30 minutes of hesitation, I also learned that it is far too easy to tear off a pigeon's head with your bare hands and that they don't need a head to fly away. After 35 years I can still see the blood stains on the basement walls. The soup was delicious and I ate way too much of it.
And no, I wasn't raised by cats
