I have no social media accounts or a smart phone.
you couldn't live in australia without one though - at least not in tassie - if you aren't able to scan the qr code in shops and restaurants, you can't go in - so you would have to use the homeless shelter to get food.
Can you not get home delivery?
So, what happen if your phone break or something ? I didn't have any for nearly 2years.
It's quite ridiculous if you ask me.
and how do you want to pay for it? Most services won't accept cash anymore - so you need apple pay or google pay or some other contact-free payment method.
it is - not many are aware of the problems some people without have to face - that is why we donated to the homeless shelter - and now a 2nd one will be build from donations. these people are in real trouble because a lot have no way to pay in a contact-free way.
Even just using an Uber requires now to scan the qr code - so without a smart phone you are doomed here.

I pay on credit card.
It's not even about homeless or extra poor. Phone can break, and you can have issue with the phone company.
Being unable to buy food because of that is the most ridiculous thing I heard of.
Also, credit card ? I mean, that's how I pay IRL.
I've not been shopping in nearly 18 months. I do it all online now.
3d printed food taste horrible though.
I have a cupboard full of red flip flops if I want some vegan bacon. Also for reasons know only to my sister she brought seven 1kg bags of rice when she visited a couple of months ago.
we call those thongs here - so imagine what you are going to eat, if you consider the outside-of-OZ meaning of it.
the thing is if someone has no home he has no credit card either, so he is doomed.
