State of the Game

He'd love it but Marcus Tidybeard would probably punch me.
Or just scoff it down while Monica looks on in disgust

The really sad question is why FDev can't get it done - more than half a year has passed and it is still not done. It is not impossible to get performance up, other games can do it pretty well with much more content on display at a time and often much less staff working on it - so why is it, that FDev cannot get it done within half a year?- I really wonder.

Dunno... Why worry when you no longer play?

maybe I hope for that FDev will feel a bit of honour and say "ok, guys, now let's get this done to show that we can do it properly as well" - but hope dies last, you know. I don't play it anymore, because it is not really my cuppa, not even because of EDO. But still I'd like Elite to survive - just because it started this genre - it shouldn't be what it currently is.

It isn't worrying either - but really wonder why they cannot get it done - it is the task of a software company to get things like that done, especially when already paid for it - so firstly why does it take them so long and secondly will they be able to do it at all?- Currently it doesn't look like it, does it?

Snark is common here, usually by the 'jilted', I'm sure you have noticed that.

It isn't fixed yet, it shouldn't have been released in the state it was, but the usual intimation of incompetence is boring...

yeah, I guess I'm doing it in the hope that it will trigger their feel for honour - to get something finally done they got paid for more than half a year ago already. The lack of actually calling them out for it, let's them continue at a tired snail's pace.

I'm sure it will continue slower than most would prefer... Did you buy Odyssey?
no, I always wait for the reviews to make a decision - and in this case I've seen already in the "extra paid for" alpha test, that the DLC is flawed in many ways. Later you made me realize, that Elite isn't really my cuppa - I guess, the real reason to even get to trying NMS was that planetary tech of EDO will be transferred to EDH - this was the final straw to me, it doesn't look good and it will mess up EDH as well - so why oontinue playing Elite then, that game I paid for (ED+EDH) will no longer be there, performance will be horrible and I really dislike some of the planet surfaces I've seen in EDO - so there is no reason to play Elite - and it is FDev's fault that there is none left for me.

I have EDO on 3 accounts - 1 had the alpha access (a gift from my wife) the other 2 bought after release, so around £100 spent.
I have had hundreds of hours play, all enjoyed, in EDO already, so it suits me.

I've just spent more than that on a handful of sheets of A4 paper to give to businesses that insist that a person cannot be dead without a piece of paper... No entertainment there at all!

When put in perspective, the pleasure from buying an expansion that has issues is far exceeded by the real life requirement of Death Certificates to appease businesses. My wife died, but cannot be officially dead without a piece of expensive paper to businesses I already give money to...

I'd guess because the issues are not trivial. Remember NMS took a while to meet and then massively exceed expectations. I don't see FDev doing this, but would expect ED to be a special project for DBOBE.

That sounds a bit harsh te me. I've stopped playing for quite a while now as like most pass-time activities we will tend to grow bored of them. I've had more than enough pleasure and hours of play from ED, much like many games that I no longer play.

Anyhooo, sorry, I'm badly off topic. Apologies:

It's very far from the first game I've seen launch in bad shape. BF4 & Skyrim being two off the top of my head. BF4 went on for well over a year because of hit detection issues which is core for a fps. Skyrim had more than i could write about and still does afaik.
Most of ED's woes seem fixable and will just take time..
It's a bit like cooking as things need done in the right order and properly.
Take shortcuts or bow to hungry guests and undercook it, it won't end well.
