Station interiors concern

My concern for station interiors: That they are all the same.. 😑
My concern for outposts: There is gravity. Better not be. If I don't hear the mag boots working (or whatever is keeping us from floating away) when I'm walking around, I'm going to give elite a -1/10 on sound design. ;)

How many station services are available from the comfort of your pilots chair? If all are available, I suspect that one week after Odyssey launches, players will, for the sake of efficiency, opt out of entering the station. On the other hand, if too many of the station services only can be used by getting out of your chair and walking into the station, many will complain that it the game is too much of a chore. I have an idea for a solution to this. Once your reputation with the controlling faction is high enough, you become a VIP at that station, and more and more services will be available from your ships console. If you have no reputation with the controlling faction, no services are available from your ships console. Additionally, with VIP status, more exclusive services inside the station become available. Doing it like this actually rewards players who frequent that station often and it will not make station interiors an ignored feature two weeks after launch. Thoughts?
If you ask me I would remove all services from the ship. I'd just leave refuel repair and rearm. All the rest from the station terminals or attendants

I'm all in for 'morally dubious' missions picked up from the 'station scum' - the more the merrier!
Can see me and the barperson being 'best buddies' in no time at all too 🥳

I kinda picked up the vibe that interiors without 'interesting gameplay' was the idea being ridiculed... But then, my rose-coloured glasses may have got in the way...

At least we can now somewhat quietly talk to these people rather than broadcasting it over the station comms.

Remember the jokes about how selling illegal stuff is from ships.

ANYONE WANT TO SELL SOME ILLLEGAL GOODS?

YES! I HAVE SOME ILLEGAL GOODS FOR SALE! DONT'T LET THE POLICE KNOW!

There is so much potential in Odyssey 'foot play' for C&P to shine... I'm honestly hoping that some thought has been put into "morally dubious" or even outright criminal missions - I'm not expecting it to, but can hope!

I don't think this will change, black market is still going to be on the docking menu from the ships.

Why is this really a concern?

People playing for the experience and / or interested in doing on-foot stuff will likely prefer to use the station interior. People playing "for the efficiency" will likely just use station nenu. Everybody's happy.

My concern is people complaining before it's even out. Haha, at least wait until we see how good it is, I expect it's better than you think

I long learned to enjoy the cries and moans of those who always see bad things in everything like classical music. Because in the end it ultimately means that annoying people are unhappy, and that's a good thing in my book.

There is an old saying in my native language that roughly translates to english like this: "Pepper in some other man's 'poophole' is like refreshment to me". It loses a bit in translation, but you still get the overall meaning :D

Thats the same argument people give for ship interiors being a waste of time. "its just extra time to have to walk through it", "it doesnt add any actual gameplay", "looks nice but it'll get old after the first few times". yet here we're getting station interiors and people mostly love it, but so many argue against ship interiors. i suppose in the end its about finding a balance between making the game interesting and engaging, but also letting players get things done efficiently. thats why you have some things they make you walk into the station for, like the bartender/mat trader or the missions you can only get talking to npcs, but they also put everything in big common area and made the elevator ride quick. with ship interiors, they would have to find happy place somewhere between "teleport from pilot chair to ground" and "walk half a mile, through 17 doors, down 4 flights of stairs through the cutter to get outside"

No, some people will want to carry on the way they are and should be able to. Add something new to the game, don't take away someone elses game.

I agree, there is no reason to take stuff away from people who just want to fly ships and nothing else. Plus not everyone will buy Odyssey and they would need the old ship menu anyway.

I think it's nice as it is, ship-only stuff is still available in the station menu as before, while the station lobby will have both ship and on-foot stuff.

Odyssey related services I'd guess zero available from ship. There's terminals that allows us to pick up missions quickly if we don't want to chase down npcs. I doubt FD would've made those terminals if we could just pick up missions from our ships, but who knows.

As for rewarding people for chasing down npcs, so far we know haggling can only be done person to person. As well there's rare goods appearing on vendors, presumably there's no other way to interact with vendors either.
^^
This pretty much.

And exactly how the heck are you going to access the new space Uber taxi services?

OP has an odd way of making things more complex than needs be.....

It's also simpler for them to manage both horizons and Oddyssey versions of the game this way.
