I read it differently...
Clearly the Aegis chappies and chapesses have lowered their demands. They are after all in top secret military research labs trying to develop systems which can save mankind.
We can thus assume that they are public spirited.
Hence the news that they have reduced their demands for Natural Fabrics from 250,000 tonnes to 25,000 tonnes is very welcome.
Out of curiosity I tried to calculate my own house's requirements for natural fabrics, though didn't get any further than soft furnishings. Hence I weighed 1 x cushion, 1 x pair of curtains that I can't be bothered putting up and a bogoll.
This came to 7.2kg, though I then removed the curtains from the equation as the stations rotate laterally about the planet. And who i to say that their offices are not within the station?
Hence 0.83kg.
So that 25,000 tonnes, the reduced requirement, appears to correlate to a research staff of about 30 million people. Or 300 million before the nerf.
Now call me picky but I don't think public spirited as they are that only using one sheet to wipe and one to polish, and potentially sharing cushions on a shift basis ( therefore reducing their need by a factor of three) would be unreasonable given the importance of their work.
Yes Aegis staff are people and deserve a cushion, and we welcome their sacrifices.
They have to realise though that Commanders are also sacrificing a lot to deliver their cushions and bogroll.
