What are the recommendations then?

Shockingly, the only game I've played is Hotline Miami, which I rather enjoyed - especially the soundtrack. Is it time I got hold of Skyrim?

Skyrim is a must. and Bioshock is a worthy purchase, but if nothing takes your fancy today wait for tomorrow to see what other wallet friendly bargains they have.

I feel compelled to point out that I recently noticed Steam manage their EU operations through a Luxembourg SALC, thereby avoiding paying tax in the UK. I'm pretty annoyed with companies doing this, especially immensely rich ones like Valve, so I'm sticking clear of Steam now.

I messaged some gaming press about it and one of them said they'd investigate. Hopefully something will change some time, or they'll at least be more transparent about their processes.

Bioshock is awesome purely for its fantastic plot and pacing. As you play the game, there are recordings you can find that tell you the history of the place you find yourself, slowly revealing the horrible truth. Bioshock 2 isn't quite as good plot-wise, but has some advancements in gameplay and some truly terrifying moments. I defy you not to get startled a bit when you meet your first "Big Sister"...

It's the only game series I'm aware of where you can realistically weigh up the pros and cons of either shooting at someone, or summoning a swarm of attack bees.

If you do get the first Bioshock, then one little bit of advice. If you want to see the super happy ending, then never EVER be evil.

The thing that impressed me most about the original bioshock was the intro...

It was soo good you spend a good few minutes waiting for something to happen before you realise your playing..and its waiting for you..

VERY impressive..

Well aint we a bundle of laughs today:rolleyes:

I just reviewed Call of Juares: Gunslinger a short while ago and it is a very entertaining wild west story for those who like the stuff. A bit predictable, but still fun. Certainly recommended at that price!

Skyrim is naturally a must, but I'd be surprised if people did not already have it. Are the add-ons on sale as well?

got it for the PS3 but haven't played it yet.

Bioshock infinite has just been purchased.:D

I'll stick my neck out and recommend Hotline Miami for the same price as a pint of beer up north during happy hour. The game is kind of addictive, violently transgressive (but with a 'message'), and has a cool grungy/alternative/electro soundtrack by bands you've never heard.

I missed out on the Dragon Age: Origins sale. Seems they were doing the game and ALL the dlc/expansion for about £8 I think it was. Now that was a pretty sweet deal, Bioware's last good game and all it's extras.. and I missed it. Doh!

The Hearthfire addon is a bit pointless, in my opinion. It's just another three houses to own and occasionally defend. Dawnguard is okay, but really feels like it's bolted on rather than integral to the plot. Dragonborn is the only one that seems to belong. I think I was spoilt by Fallout: New Vegas, where all of the storyline DLC built up bit by bit to explain the one unexplained question of the original game: Why are YOU "The Courier"?

Deadly, But very fluffy...
would like to hear your views on Skyrim, i think its the best thing since Fallout 3.

Agree, Fallout 3 is one of my favs, and Skyrim am still playing since its release..i play slowly! all on xbox though.....also have Red Redemption which i haven't played yet!.

Ive just found Final Fantasy 7 for my old PlayStation, loved that one, gonna see if i can fire that up.

I'm going to try and resist it this time - I have a huge backlog of Steam games, some of which I haven't even played yet. ;)

I do like these sales though - £3.49 for Bioshock 2 is amazing; I used to pay that sort of price for crappy Acorn Electron games back in the day.
