General / Off-Topic Steam summer sale

I am kinda hooked in XCOM multiplayer at the moment. Anyone else playing?

The original game is better. I REALLY missed aliens assaulting your base. Also the end level is very disappointing.

Found this today.

I'm disappointed that they said they wanted to keep the essence of the original game, and then changed so much! The combat is beautiful, but the strategy/Geoscape layer is a complete failure! They only needed to tweak that a little; instead they threw the baby out with the bathwater.

yeah repelling the Aliens is missed... I think the level format of the missions became a little predicable and made for that dull repetative gaming...

I loved the big mechs though... kicked my ass a LOT!!

The satellite/panic system was also a terrible idea, and doesn't actually make any sense either. The ships are flying in our atmosphere, so we'd track them with radar, not satellites. Ground based radar stations would've also allowed for base attack missions as the aliens try and blind you permanently.

Hmmm. Sounds a bit too good to be true to me. I'd be cautious personally. Besides, Saints Row 2 on PC is supposed to have terrible technical issues.

Too good to be true in what way? They might not be the finest games ever, but probably worth a spin. I mainly got it for Saint's Row 3 and Dead Island, and possibly won't bother with the rest.

If you're suggesting there are legitimacy issues, then no need to worry there. I've bought quite a few Humble Bundles in the past, and never had a problem. Once you've paid up, you get keys to add the games to your Steam account. Usually you get a DRM-free option too, but not in this particular example.

Humble Bundle have been doing these deals for a long time now, they're totally legitimate (although I doubt Humble Bundle V will ever be topped).

If you only played it on easy and normal it is easy to assume that this doesn't make any sense. However, if you play it on one of the harder settings where there is a very real thread of failing a mission and the nations are more demanding your decisions when dealing with the nations affect your research and economy significantly.

Yes I did like that game aspect a lot. You have to stay in tactics as there will always be two continents ed because you picked a third to help out.

Even with all missions successful you can still loose this game pretty easy. I played only on classic mode.

It's just the spawning of aliens, pre-made maps and aliens not assaulting your base that makes this game low of replay-ability. And I really wanted to fly to Mars :(
