Steam thinks elite has uninstalled

I just tried to play elite dangerous and Steam is tell me it needs to download and install it.

However if I go to the steam folder it's there and the launcher works.

Anyone else seen this?

1) Create a back up of all the elite files. (Just cope the entire Elite: Dangerous folder to desktop.
2) Close steam via task manager (close all processes linked to steam)
3) Delete Elite: Dangerous in steamapps folder.
4) Copy the back-up to where you deleted Elite: Dangerous from
5) Restart steam as admin
6) Let it try and install Elite. It should recognize that files are already there.

Note: It might download a few MB of files. That should be it.

I'm not sure you can do this if steam thinks it's uninstalled! Worth a shot though!
You can't verify it if it is "uninstalled." This just happened to me with Empire: Total War. If you install the game, it will see there are files there and only download the ones you are missing. When that is done Verify the install before running it as a double check. Will save you several GB of bandwidth.
