Horizons Still not balanced game play!

In front of what?
Or who? Anyone?
So, you're asking FD to fix the 'balance' of ED so you can be in front?
Failure is not an option - it will occur.
Frustration with ED is not an option - it will occur.
:)

Trust me, I have had plenty of failure in my time in beta to now.
if we All can't get ahead with ship progress how will the entire game map ever be utilised?
certain loopholes were closed, cash flow stopped.
im still scratching my head how on earth people get anacondas fully decked out?

crapola....missions do not pay enough? I am getting one or two million for hauling a few tonnes of manure.
but....I thought you were not doing missions?

there is a lot more information required to validate your statement.
Ship?
rank?
where?

the only 2 million haul I ever completed was from Robigo.

now back in an asp, selective locations are only visited with secure missions selected.

how else can money be made?
way to risky bounty hunting IMHO.

Ship?
rank?
where?

Ship? - Any ship, although a high capacity multi role or freighter is the sensible choice
rank? - Any rank, high paying missions are no longer locked, the mission rank influences the opponents you may encounter
where? - Boom & War state pay up 2/3 million to haul legal goods & weapons, if you have a large freighter you can stack 5/6 lower paid missions to the same port (anywhere from 100,000 to 800,000 per load)

Long ranges places like Sothis pay the most, I've seen up to 10 million credits per mission hauling 180 tonnes of cargo back to the bubble, plenty of other places offering high paying missions. Major difference with 2.1 is the board does not guarantee mission availability, you could fly to Sothis and only see charity missions.

2.0 was the same, only difference now is the devs have thankfully plugged most of the exploit issues.

Because we all share the same galaxy open/solo/private. You could always take a little responsibility and ensure you fly with 4 pips in SYS and a half decent shield.

Only pick missions according to your rank or lower, stay in high security mission.

Am fully aware of the devs post, the AI has most defintely been tamed, high rank ship spawning in SC is virtually non existent, you now have to purposely go looking for them or pick missions that are high ranked. The game is slipping back to 2.0 standards.
Wanna swap? I see nothing below Expert at the moment (i'm ranked novice!)

I want a challenge, but meh - not having a problem with higher ranked spawns. something is screwy if the experience is so varied

OMG, NPCs could not be easier to beat than they are now, stop saying they are difficult or they maneuver better or they "cheat" , they already listened to those who like making easy credits, now please stop that, this patch just dumbed down AIs again, do you want it even easier ? Why don't you improve your skills instead ? Maybe fight lower ranked npcs, there are systems that are full of them, just find those systems and stick to them, you will make less credits but at least you will get your easy victory against dumb npcs...

But you know what the real issue is ? You guys want to make millions overnight by just farming easy to beat npcs, you don't like challenges, you like easy games that make you feel the Hero of the galaxy while you don't understand the game at all and don't try to improve your skills instead of requesting FD to dumb down all AIs again...

I don't like saying this but I'm tired of whiners forcing FD to dumb down the game to please those who don't even try to improve and understand the game...
Please guys, just GIT GUD !!!

Not everyone plays at the same level or wants to.

Sounds like the OP needs to increase their REP with a faction or factions within a system. Once you get ALLIED with one of these systems, the mission payouts get VERY high. In the millions of credits range. The new mission system will also often give you access to missions your rank does not normally have access to. Those tend to be the highest paying types. But you need to get your rep to ALLIED. I see a HUGE difference in mission reward $$ with systems I am allied with compared to those I am not.

To increase your rep though, that means doing a lot of the lower paying missions these same people are offering to you now. Jumping all over the place to many systems will only increase the amount of time it takes to reach ALLIED status with one of them. Pick a system you like for whatever reason and STAY THERE! Work those stations and those mission givers. You will find the same people at all the stations in that system, but they give different missions at each.

Based on my personal experience with the new mission system.

As for the AI... The AI logic/skill HAS NOT been dumbed down. FD said that themselves so STOP spreading misinformation! They removed high powered weapons and lowered the instances of high skill (ELITE) enemy encounters. That's it. I am still getting some pretty intense encounters from bounty hunters and pirates.

My only complaint with the AI has always been CHAFF SPAMMING! The AI are not under the same Chaff limitations we are. They can launch it over and over with only a few second delay between each launch, and they NEVER run out!

I gotta check cos I've been wondering this for a while

Have you sat with a mate who has chaff and watched what happens when he fires it? Or flown hard in reverse and fired it?

It never comes out in just one shot, it's like a stream of bits with a little interval per unit of chaff

Now this might all be horribly patronising if so I apologise because it's unintentional - but it just occurred to me there might be a massive confusion possible for PvE players who've never seen a known single shot of chaff fired through no fault of their own. the npc's ten shots of chaff would look like a hundred

I must also say that I am very disappointed at this very moment! :(
Today I bought a Type 7 and equipped it decently with quite good equipment to do some occasional trading in the next month to gain some money and I was saving for a Python in the long run. Well I know the type 7 is a trading ship and I did not expect to do any serious combat in it... Well not saying that I am the best pilot, but I have a quite expensive ship, decently equipped and I have been interdicted like 10 times and shot down three times within approx 3 hours losing like 4 or 5 million credits (this is ~20 % of my overall money I gained in the last approx 200h of game time!!! - while I must confess that I dont play very "competitivly", just doing some missions here and there... Some exploration... No long range smuggling missions or anything else that might be extremely profitable. I just wanted to have fun and gain some money...) of cargo and insurance just by flying from A to B to C. And this was done by the AI not by human players... I mean ok... For me ED is kind of a single player game in a MP universe and I would be happy if I could hire some mercenaries to defend me and my ship, but at the moment it really seems like I simply suffered of "random death" once every hour of playtime without being able to do something. Usually I was able to escape with some hull damage, but the three times I died recently I even died within the FSA cooldown period) I dont think that I could have done ANYTHING to prevent this. :( Its really like "random death" every now and then... I mean lets face it... This is a game. It should be fun and at least somehow balanced and while I embrace challenge I dont see a challenge when I am shot down within like 20 seconds in an advanced ship with decent equiptment by a more or less random AI pilot. :( The three times I died today I really dont have the feeling that I could have done ANYTHING to prevent it. It was simply "random death". period...
Not fun... :(

I'm only basing my opinion on observing how chaff was dispensed by NPC ships in 2.0 compared to now in 2.1.2. The difference was significant with the 2.1 update. I see pretty much a steady stream of chaff from many ships now. My gimbaled weapons are constantly seeking for a lock and rarely get one. Maybe for 1-5 seconds before the NPC fires another chaff.

Completely different deployment pattern than in 2.0 or any previous version of ED for that matter. My only conclusion was that they are firing one chaff charge after another indefinitely. At least that is how it looks from my perspective. I sure can't launch chaff every 5 seconds. And I have a FINITE supply of charges. The NPCs we have right now, the ones that use chaff (a few don't) are not bound by ANY of our Chaff limitations that I can see.

Again... I can only base it on watching my gimbaled weapons behavior and how rarely they can lock on some of these ships.

Yes I just posted a rant about this too, before I saw this thread. I agree the balance is so far off being fair now. I just got wiped out in less than 20 secs. I thought they stopped NPC having custom weapons but I still see the icon as they hit me. Just lost almost 2 Million credits with cargo/missions and a ship. I want a refund for that Frontier!
