I admire your zeal and wish you well in your campaign to remove the button & ARX all together.
My platform of choice is XBox, for me the only real issue was the colour of the icon, ARX as a currency in no different in scope or intent to the previous Frontier Points, the inclusion of revamped store mechanics integrated directly into the game is an improvement over a half baked console based browser interface.
I would have preferred to be able to purchase for real money as the PC users used to have, but given the investment FD have made in the transition to ARX and the new store I feel it would have been an unrealistic goal.
