Stored Ships safe?

If I was to get a sidewinder, get killed and then select the option to not rebuy but to have the default sidewinder in my start location, would any ships/modules I have in storage, plus any mats/data I have be safe, or would my progress effectively be reset?
I'm pretty sure everything would be safe, but you know... look before leap etc..!

To be sure: If you dont rebuy you permanently lose that specific ship! Everything else (ships, stored modules, data and mats) will be safe. Its a common trick/exploit/whatever to get rid of a bounty. Do keep in mind that, depending on context, it will result in a dormant bounty in case this was your plan. ;)

thanks for the reply... I'm out in Colonia and although I'm loving it here and seriously considering staying, I miss my Cutter. It would cost 1.1B Cr to have it shipped to me so I'm going to have to fly it out.... I'd prefer not to have to fly all the way back to the bubble and then fly all the way back again, so I'm thinking of using this method as a deliberate exploit to get back instantly to the bubble - halving my journey. I know, naughty me right? :eek:

Just remember to RP that you woke up with a bad headache and a terrible hangover in Threvik Dock without knowing how you got there. :D

it was them Thargoids' cousins wot done it ... the Haemorrhoids. There was explosions and probing and it was really unpleasant. I woke in Thevik with a hangover and a funny walk...
It's my story and I'm sticking with it! :D

Surely you would respawn back in Colonia at the last station you docked at not back in the bubble?

Or does it start you in the starter system when you don't rebuy? I have never done it to know.
