Strange DQ white dwarf discovery

Strange DQ white dwarf discovery (Also Iffy Codex WD Classifications)

Not quite sure what to make of this........ is it a DQ or not?

Elite Galaxy online awarded a double Galactic record breaker for it,
WCV4yJM.jpg

the Codex lists it as a DQ.........
DFJMLfc.jpg

EDSM lists it as a DCV https://www.edsm.net/en/system/bodi...details/idB/27278340/nameB/Foijou+ST-Q+d5-1+A

Can any white dwarf experts share any knowledge as to what the thing is?

Ive decided its the Codex thats borked & doesnt know Ar$e its from its from its elbow with regards to stellar cartography & shall therefore ignore the *bleep* in my future travels, & gonna bug report it as being reported as two different things from in game systems.

Please post the entry from your journal.log. The journal entry should be the authoritative data source.

White dwarf DQs are extremely rare in my experience. I never found an undiscovered one. As you say, it's probably a DCV. Whatever this thing is, good find!

Looking for a DQ myself. The codex reports a DQ in the Ryker's Hope section where I am as a DCVO. SO, I'm a bit confused by what constitutes a DQ.

I did another bit of investigation into this conundrum recently as had it happen again. After hunting out every one of the WD Sub types I could in a area and noting what got ticked off in the codex per type visit this is what i found going on

Gal Map WD Type vs Codex WD Type
DA = DA
DAB = DAB
DB = DB
DC = DOV ??
DBV = DBV
DCV = DQ ??
DAV = DAV
DBZ = DBZ
DAZ = DAZ

Couldnt easily find a DOV type on the Galmap (will try & remember to hunt one out, but now I'm out on the absolute rim I doubt I'm going to see one in a while) The same goes for a Galmap DQ

I suspect that what we have is some sort of mashup of the Normal, the Extended & the extra Peculiarities symbols. Personly I think the Galmap is showing correct & therfore edsm / ego ect as thats the type recorded in the ship logs & its the Codex that is just simplifying things into the basic types.

The DC = DOV I visited however is a bit conflicting in type, there is no DOV type unless it is a DO - V , but then how can something be "DO – a helium-rich atmosphere, indicated by ionized helium, He II, spectral lines" + Variable but at the same time a "DC – no strong spectral lines indicating one of the above categories."

The WD in question was
[edsm]Spoihaae MQ-B d14-213[/edsm]
& in the codex as
