Strange PC/Game issue!!

This has been going on for a little while but came to a head tonight when it nearly cost me a FAS.

Every now and again, whilst I am playing, my PC will flick back to my desktop for a couple of seconds and then flick back to ED.
Apart from the obvious problem of being blind for a couple of seconds, when the screen returns to the game, my throttle doesn't work (the stick does (Warthog HOTAS)). most of the time this happens in-station or at innocuous times but tonight I was on my way towards the slot of a station and not yet lined up.....
My cure, so far, hit the windows key, (to view desktop) and click on the ED prog running in the task bar, then all is well. however, it is annoying and this time it cost 7,000 cr in repairs!

Anyone else had this? what the hell fixes it?
I'm running Win 7 and the ED launcher runs in admin mode.

I spend all day fixing IT issues so I really don't need this when I am trying to escape! :(

I find this happens when I have voiceattack running but have not set it to EliteDangerous window (i.e. it is set to active window)...if I give a command it may kick me to the desktop and then back on next command.

Doesn't alway happen though (I try and remember to set VA to ED)

My first thought was a bit of background software but I can't see what and this hasn't always happened. I haven't installed anything for ages so it could be an update of something..

Does sound like some background software on your system - I had something similar when Audible.com wanted to update (in a CZ? seriously?? - I mean, there are good and bad times for this stuff! ;) )

Some software does this without a popup window - sometimes changing from windowed to full screen solves it, but I know sod all about computers compared to most people here and I'm only posting 'cos I'm drunk.

Razer Synapse is also guilty of that - and that horrible monstrosity that gets installed wth new AMD drivers. Urgh.

Drunks of Sol approve about the drinking though!!!

You could try task manager - disable the background tasks you know you don't need - Razer might be in there. Enable it now and again to get updates.

(Disclaimer - please see above for info about computer knowledge and alcohol state... )

How on Earth did you know I am drinking?

Spooky!

Hmmm...

I'm running a Razor Naga as well on a Win7 64 build...
I have only been dropped to the Desktop, ED Minimized, once right after the 1.4 roll out...
So far-

I've been on since Mid Beta.

But it does sound like an app/update/request is pushing its way Forward in front of ED...

I've had a screen ownership problems since 1.4. I watch steaming live tv through an online app from my cable provider. Since 1.4 - I've had serious issues with getting the screen to show when alt-tabbing, most of the time the 2nd screen just blanks now when switching to ED on full screen on my 1st monitor. It takes several tries before the screen even shows or if the app crashes it steals both screens when in game and I have the same problems as the OP and to regain control I have to do the same - click on the ED icon in the explorer tab (alt-tabbing doesn't return control). None of which were an issue prior to 1.4.....

Regular old blue Naga here - and some of the keys have stuck so I no longer bind them. If you've any thing bound involving an alt, or a tab, or maybe Windows and a D later - I'd simply load a new profile that's completely unbound and test it, or unplug the mouse and use a regular one for testing.

Good thinking.. Maybe tomorrow...

Its twenty past one AM!

cross your fingers for me that it is something simple.... The mouse cost £70 though so that won't be simple to explain to my wife!!
