Strange PC/Game issue!!

Are you using Norton AV? If so, check your silent mode in settings.
I got the same issue in win 7 and that solved it. Win 10 has only given me fits a couple times.

This is interesting,

My problem is slightly different, I just get sent back to desktop whilst the game is still running! I can click back on to the elite icon on the task bar and get back in and the game continues then in seconds back we go again after which all returns to normal. As I like High res asteroid sites this is very inconvenient since you are normally fighting there and given that I been here since alpha I am at a loss as to why in the last few days, well 1st April or so it seems (weird), this has just started to happen. Yes, does feel like the windows key is being activated but I'm having no issues with the keyboard. That being said I also have a Razer mouse and up to now have never had a problem with that either! Oh, I am not running Norton, ugh!

Sounds like a silent mode problem with whatever Antivirus package you are running...had this problem with Avast.

maybe another app doing it, I've got MSI live update which drags me out of the game unless i remember to kill it, to ask if i want to check for mb updates, even if I say never again it keeps asking !!. Also voice attack can do that sometimes.

I have this happen when I'm using voice attack and ask it to play a Playlist in VLC (it's launched minimized via command line) haven't fixed it yet but it wasn't doing that the last time I used voice attack with VLC

Only thing that has updated since the last time it was working properly was ED and win10

This happens to me when I accidently hit the windows key. Like you said pressing the ed icon on the bottom fixes.
Try to map any well used keys away from the windows button

Various background processes can cause this. e.g. it's always Cisco for me.
Click on "Show hidden icons" on the right side of your taskbar to see what else is running.

Best way to stop this from affecting the game is to change the display setting in ED from Full Screen to Borderless. Background tasks can then pop up notifications without it affecting the game (the game will still be visible even though you can see the notification too).

That's a very good point. I used to do that as a matter of course during the testing phase when it used to crash! but got into the habit of using the full screen mode though (thou) to be honest I blame NVIDIA Geforce experience of optimising the game - well at lest that's my excuse!

I think I might have mislead you there. I only ever use the 'J' and 'L' keys, It just feels like the windows key has been used when this incident occurs but yes it would be nice if the game de-activates the windows key or at lest gave you the option to do so
