Strange scan on Shadow Mission

No, it is the same in game. The locks you are referring to are for gimballed weapons. Chaff affects those. In fact that is the whole point of chaff - to break weapons lock. It won't break a cargo scan - whole different deal. Heat sinks may drop your temp to make you go off radar but again, won't affect cargo scan. There are no cargo scans in CQC - that is a pure combat arena as far as I understand it.

It should break a scan though. It does for us.

I got scanned once coming out of an outpost hangar. I clicked launch and while I was riding the lift up it said scan detected, and I was done for. Not really sure if that's a bug but either way it's kind of a cheap move :)

Blimey it all seems a bit of a mess tbh.

In CQC heat sinks drop your temp and as a result drop any locks but it seems the same is not true in the main game.

Chaff stops scans, which makes total sense and is what you'd would expect, but apparently for some reason this is a longstanding "bug" which you wouldn't expect.

Really whether it's a bug or not, this is how the game behaves and has done for a year, I think it's perfectly reasonably that NPCs follow the same rules. =/

It is an absolute mess.

It's not just security vessels that can scan you. You can be scanned by pirate ships too. My last smuggling mission I was fighting one pirate and another pirate spawned, I thought it was a wing so I kept attacking the first one. During the battle, I failed to see the scan detected and didn't even notice my missions failed until I reached my destination and couldn't find the base I was suppose to land at.

I made a video of my "bad day" but you can see the other ship spawn and start the scan.

Aaaand... for once trying shadow deliveries again, I jump to the first star, usual messages about how I drop down blah blah, one System Authority so I turn my tail to the star and watch them all drop out of supercruise ... time to jump.

So you might think.

Not so... immediately interdicted by an UNSEEN pirate. No problemo, thinks I, submit, boost away etc. (At this point the pirate is the only ship in the game plus low wakes.) And then.... in jumps the System Authority ship in front of me, immediate scan, zips past and I'm unable to turn and shoot in time to stop the scan. Never mind the anti-scan tactics HOW was it physically possible for the SA ship to find and travel to me instantaneously?

Last shadow delivery missions I'll be taking.

I just left a station in my Asp Explorer with A rated thrusters & power distributor, boosted multiple times as fast as possible in a straight line away from the station. This usually works fine, however a scan somehow completed failing all my missions - without a scan detected message and WITHOUT ANY SHIPS ON MY RADAR.
Bug.

There's always ships on your radar when you leave a station!.

The Feds are patrolling in a circle around the entrance to the station, but sometimes there's one who's not in that pattern. He's probably travelling or patrolling the route to the star. You'll see him on the radar before you leave the station, often a little further out, though not always, but the main point is that he's not in that rotating patrol pattern. When you boost out, you have to keep well clear of him because he can hold the scan for longer than the others.

I gave up on them ages ago as the interdiction/scan mechanics are just too buggy for me.

Instead of being a bug, the use of chaff to make scans harder would be a nice addition to the game. To get a few more extra seconds to evade a scan.
I noticed several times NPCs using chaff, making my KWS slower to scan them. Why not be a feature for both NPCs and players.

The other day i was doing classified data missions for ranking in the Empire. Before i just left the station slot i engaged silent running and tried to jump system as fast as i could. But immediatly after i passed the slot an NPC scanned me. I had no chance to evade this scan. Lost my mission without a chance to counter for it. Off course this doesnt happen all the time, but if chaff could be used like the NPCs use it, i think it would be a nice feature to the game.

Same. It's worse if you are in PP too as you just get constantly hassled.

I figured I would just try PP, grind rank 5 and enjoy 50 million per week plus BH at RES but the merit grind at military zones sucks. With Robigo interdiction being out of whack, as well as PP grinds, might as well go back to A --> B trading. Seems to be the less buggy of activities.

Actually I'm not so sure about that now
I was cheerfully silent running towards Butler Dock when I had to avoid a Type-9 coming through the mail slot...
I hit the toaster rack (hull 27%) and got a scan detected message - I aborted, boosting away from the station still in silent running & popped a heat sink
Got away, circled round & docked

i don't get why people keep saying Robigo missions are bugged. I've done nearly 300 now, and never seen anything that you could call a bug. I've only failed a few, normally when I lost concentration watching TV at the same time. I think they make a nice game of cat and mouse. I'm trying them from a beginners perspective at the moment. I started a new commander, got a couple of million bounty money and then went to Robigo in a fairly low spec Cobra. 5 missions so far completed and up to about 13 million assets from about 7 hours play from the start of the new commander.

Cannot believe this bug is still hanging around... it has been happening for 4 months now... I know they are working on 2.1 but this is seriously poor!
