Strategies for killing a Goliath on foot?

Reloads of weapons, as in I had completely expended all of my ammunition. Since my weapons aren't fully upgraded yet, it may be possible without reload if I G5 everything and have Extra Ammo capacity suit upgrade and magazine size upgrades on my weapons
Right, so the suit :)
At first I thought you meant the weapons themselves and felt a great disturbance in the force the moment I did 😅
You may proceed (y)

killing goliaths?

  • rockets from my 932mj shields DBX, then land and dismiss ship... but you need to be quick or you lose the ship
  • from srv using premium ammo (and premium hull if you need to be safe)
  • on foot? g5 executioner helped by a g5 tormentor

or simply ignore it, and get inside PWR and turn it off and by it i mean the entire base

What does the premium hull comment mean?

Goliaths are big enough to snipe with railguns at a distance. Don't know why you'd waste the time to do it on foot.
Because when you've got an Odyssey mission to take out a military settlement, and the settlement is tipped off, there are hostile ships flying around as well as the Goliath. My best ship isn't built to duke it out in that kind of 1 v many combat. I've taken out a few of the ships, but never managed the whole squad.

Landing sufficiently far away from the base and walking in means the ships don't agro, but then the Goliath is a pain to dodge on foot while you're also dealing with the swarming guards.

(Seems the trick is to take an E-breach and head for the biggest building, hack the door and then play hide and seek gunfight in the corridors. Ideally the CMD building, and ideally after turning off the settlement alarms. Was wondering how feasible it was to deal with the Golliath afterwards by a means other than turning off the power to the settlement).

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll buff my shotgun and rocket launcher at some stage and do it once, just to say I've done it.

You can repair the hull and use premium "ammo" - you'll get a more resilient hull
Has anyone tried dumbfire missiles? They are insanely effective against shooting soldiers from ship, even if you don't hit them directly. Not sure if that's a bug...

The DBX i mentioned above has 2 dumbfire racks (advanced missile racks actually)
They're good indeed, especially with G5 rapid fire, including against goliaths.
Since the AoE is very big, yea - they're good against pedestrians, even when they're spread out
And in one instance where i had a Scav spawned under a building, outside of effective explosion range of grenades and L6, the only mean to kill it was shooting 3-4 salvos of dumbfires. Mission Complete.

I had no idea you could synth repair srv hull and have a premium version. Is that new with Odyssey?

I hate gathering materials so I very rarely synth. Thank you both (North) for the info though. Always nice to learn something new.
always make sure you have a decent amount of the synth mats, you never know when you will depend on a synthed rearm, refuel or repair (and there's also jumponium synths too)

LHS417 is a good system for gathering them if you don't want to travel all the way to the crystal sites.

Although, I'm sure you'll agree, it looks a bit cheesy, doesn't it?

Obviously i would prefer the Scav to be in open and shoot him myself, but I can always imagine the dumbfire explosions collapsed over his head the room he was in
The most annoying part was the said Scav was a sharpshooter and he was still able to shoot at me, at least within a certain fire-arc.

I'd just wipe out the defending ships but yeah if you're not built for that it could be more trouble than dealing with one Goliath on foot. Of course you could probably still do the deed, land, jump out and dismiss.
Cutting power doesn't deactivate active skimmers though so they'll still be around if you yank the regulator.

Suits aren't actually all that resistant to explosive damage. Especially not compared to vehicles.

Btw, may I ask why do you want kill Goliath? ... switching off alarms and ignoring it while on foot is perfectly working way how you can take out base personel without need to worry about Skimmers or Goliaths.
