Stream Sniping in Open Play? Cheating, Twitch TOS Violation, and/or FDev Rule Breaking?

LOL....

Who on earth would complain about being stream sniped if they are publically announcing their position in open. I mean cmon!! These guys need to take SOME of the responsibility for what they are doing..

Guaranteed if I announce where I am going to be in open, there are going to be certain commanders who will want to earn the "Kill VJ Achievement" lol.. If I travel in open, especially in CG's then I am taking full responsibility for whats going to happen. Sure I may point out when some people are being total tools, but I would never report anyone specifically for picking on me.. that's just silly.

If your streaming in open, then sorry, but it's game on, and be prepared for ANYTHING.. them's are the risks of streaming in open..

So the OP is open admitting that it is part of the problem that makes open play unattractive. Removing psychopath suckers like that from the game (and the planet) would improve things for everyone.

Not read the OP. But why i would want to watch other ppl playing a game that if im watching it means i have the time to be playing...

I watched a lot of high level League of Legends, because those guys are much better at playing the game than me and instead of trial&erroring trough the game, I could just learn proper tactics from them.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to gaming, so whatever accelerates my learning is a good thing.
It also largely replaced watching TV (that and Netflix).

Unfortunately ED is not very spectator friendly (only 1st person and the PvE part is so slow, unless the streamer is actually entertaining, it's a bit the watching paint dry thing) and the initiatives to get some meaningfull PvP events going are too rare.
Watching some gank squad target largely worse players then them is amongst the most boring things you can do - and you don't learn all that much, either.
They still might wonder why their streams have 20-30 spectators and top at maybe 50, even with the constant PR shennanigans they try to pull, but truth to be told - it's that boring.

I steam sometimes and I'm sure someone will snipe me at some point. I won't like it but I'm the one broadcasting my location, so, it is what it is. Fortunately, most the people that come in and chat simply like the game, want to see something in VR, or want to wing up with someone who is streaming.

Crossing the line, though, would be someone who hunts you down whenever they see you streaming. That's just weak, schoolyard 'im bigger than you' harassment. If you're doing that have a look at yourself

Aye i have and do watch streams like you more for games that fit the gene, HOTS in my case, but ED.

Well, you can look at Vindicator Jones' Channel. That's pretty entertaining and informative. I'd guess if he gets stream sniped, that actually draws more viewers to his channel/videos than to the sniper's. :p
High production value, informative, entertaining and thousands to tens of thousands of views.

If the PvP community would manage anything remotely similar in production value (and conflict and player vs. player battle should provide a much better base for more high level play) instead of mulling over the finer points of the EULA and why being cheesy is their god given right, they might not be stuck at their abysal levels of attention. It's not that there's not good PvP streamers/youtubers. OggieBoogie, Truesilver, z4.Mafia are amongst my favorites. But the rest? Like they discovered the internet yesterday.

And they say the gankers are the trolls ;)

It's what I actually want.

Why should the majority of players have to go make 'private groups' to avoid a minority of PKers?

Send the minority to the private group and let the rest of us play the game as the PvE experience we want.

Isn't there a facility to add a delay to your broadcasts ? (Delay dependent upon your machine I guess)

That would stop some sniping ... works for other streamers playing stuff like Rust <shrug>

..."blah blah blah agenda".

Not interested in taking the bait :)

Yeah there's a lot of "haha these guys", but who exactly? Where is this complaining? Where is the alleged crying that is being so mocked?

Sounds like a lot of Strawman rubbish.

The forum's naming and shaming rules don't allow specifics to be given. Some comments to the OP's thread on reddit may have more information though.
