Newcomer / Intro stuck at 100% no rank?

hi,

i want to buy a clipper so i have to rank up for the empire. went from 0% to 100% (no rank) and now its stuck even though i did a lot of missions for the empire.
no sure whats going on, am i doing something wrong?

thanks

You have to do a 'Rank Up' mission once you get to 100% to get the next rank.

Look in mission board with any Empire aligned faction, one will probably have one. Variation of Courier, Assassination, Delivery, Combat etc so can try a different board for a different type if not the one you want. Always at the top of the mission lists and usually separated from the others like a 'follow on' mission.

% Points will rank up in the background so you don't lose extra ranking points while waiting for the mission, eg when you rank up you may be 10% to the next one already.

Good Luck!

No - just persevere - you need to be friendly at least with the superpower-aligned factions in the station for the promotion mission to be offered.

If the type of mission doesn't suit, just exit the mission board and then enter it again and the promotion mission will have cycled to a different one.

What you looking for is one of the missions that would be given to you by the navy. Make sure you located at the station controlled by the faction affiliated with the Empire and make sure you're allied with this faction. Once you're allied with imperial faction controlling your station, some kind of naval mission should become available. Reputation points will continue to accumulate even after you reach 100%, so If you continue running missions for your reputation long enough you might find yourself 100% through next rank as soon as you promoted. Happened to me couple of times.

That is the right thing to have done.

As the others have said a mission saying something like navy or naval in the title will appear at the top of the list, when you finally get one to appear that you want to do, all sorts of mission types show up, you will get promoted when you have successfully completed it and then you will be a a good way through the next rank if not all the way to 100% and looking for another ranking mission.

You have to be something over 100% too for the rank-up mission to appear. I think I heard 130%. The status doesn't show higher than 100%, so you just need to figure out for yourself when you've done the 30% extra, which will also count towards your next rank.

In summary, keep doing the missions for the same faction so that you become friendly with them and eventually you get the rank-up mission with "navy" in the title. Look in the unavailable missions too to see why you can't get it if they offer you one.

keep going it will be ranking up on the next level even though it shows 100% on the correct rank. find the mission do it... and it will jump to the % it has reached on the next rank

As others have said, you need a mission offered specifically by the navy. It will show as a follow on mission with a three-linked-chain icon. You may not get one every time you dock but you will be offered one at some point - they may be of any kind: combat, trade, delivery, assassination etc.

Don't fret, after you hit 100% it keeps adding up in the background and applies it to the next rank. You may find you've done enough for more than rank by the time you find a rank mission.

does the rank for the other fractions go down if you increase empire rank or can you rank up all at the same time?
Factions and superpowers are different. Superpowers are the big over arching ones, factions are the small ones that control assets in systems.

Assuming you mean superpowers here, they all rank independently, so increasing rank with one has no effect on the others. You can rank up all of the superpowers at the same time

They do "decay" a little over time. However, I don't think they fall beneath 75%/friendly. You can, if you like, top them up by doing work for any given superpower.

Only the Feds and Empire have a naval rank.
