Stuck In A Hole

Made a bad decision last night and the end result is my SRV is stuck in a crevasse with nearly vertical walls. I'm on XB1 so logging in with base game only is not an option (unless someone knows a way to do that on console without having to uninstall/reinstall Horizons - if that would even work). I have a spare SRV, so it's not the end of the world if I have to self-destruct, but I'm about 12,000 LY outside the Bubble exploring and am only about 1/4 of the way through my planned journey. If at all possible I'd like to keep my spare for now. If I can get above the top of the crevasse with the boosters, can I then fly forward? I have only ever used the boosters for fun (extra lift on jumps while zooming around) or to slow descents. Anyone have any other suggestions? Or is it just hit destruct, learn my lesson, and carry on?

Thanks!

Outside chance, but if it's a problem with the geometry on the planet surface, support might be able to help?

Can you take a screenshot of the SRV, also one slightly zoomed out. Perhaps a Cmdr in your region can divert and help you out.

What happens when your ship tries to pick you up? I take it the ship just aborts the landing procedure? 12,000LY is not that far out, and plenty of remote systems outside the bubble (including prison ships) you can pick up a new SRV there.

Log out... log back into Non-Horizons ED client.

back in space.

job done.

He explained why he can't do that.

Yes, you can fly forward. Sort of. If you can get height clearance, tilt your SRV forward and keep boosting, that can move you forward.

4 pips to engines and just try vertical thrust as high as you can. If possible try and find a ledge or something else to get hung up on, while engine recharges then thrust again.
If that doesn't work, they you likely have to just self destruct.

No, not a game geometry issue. I just miscalculated the extremity of the terrain I was trying to cross. Completely user error, so I won't be going to support.

The crevasse is steep enough that my ship actually lands on the flat surface about 900m from me. Very frustrating.

I don't think any of the deep space stations are in the area I'm headed. I think they're mostly between the Bubble and Colonia and I'm exploring out on about a 90 degree angle to the other side of the galactic core. I will do a search just to be sure, though.

That's what I was trying last night. I'll give it another shot before I call it a loss and hit destruct.

So he did...

im eating my dinner right now at the computer, between stuffing my face with mash potato and looking at the VDU, i didnt fully read his post.

Amazing Steak pie though...

Now all I can think of is that part of the comment was obscured by gravy on he screen!

For the OP, it is possible to fly up and tip the nose forward once you're at the top. 4 pips to engines on a typical size moon does give you a reasonable amount of lift. Knowing how many g you're up against may help people with suggestions though.

Very low g, although I can't recall offhand. The moon is only about 1200 km in diameter.

Worth persevering with, I think in that case. 24000 ly would probably seem a long way with 1 SRV when you have already lost the other. I'd certainly be giving it a go. As Jukelo suggests, you would be surprised how well SRVs stick when you dont climb straight up a wall. Good luck with your escape.
