When Steve O B Have mentioned the generation ship I remembered something that I had read about ramjet ship,managed to Find this site with some info about the ramjest,http://www.bisbos.com/rocketscience/spacecraft.html I think a combination of the ramjet and Daedalus would be a great starting point for a generation ship design.After all these ship would have been out there for Hundreds if not thousands of years.

Yeah Daedalus is a ship that I continuously keep coming back across - it was an intriguing concept and one that was recently thrown out the door (in another thread referring to this:http://www.wired.com/science/space/news/2008/08/space_limits) but it doesn't stop you using your imagination even if others have.
I think it would be epic to come across something like a massive archaic ship shaped in an 'Old Earth' style like the Daedalus and have it surrounded by police drones or similar to stop people from attacking them. Like a big keep away type situation where you can only sit back and marvel at them drifting by. Later of course when you get higher rankings or proceed in certain missions you will be required to board one and hunt down some dodgey characters that are trying to steal from them or redirect them to crash into a planet etc.

It would also be cool to see something like the EON Asteroid Generation Ship from the book by Greg Bear drifting along with a massive engine plume behind it.

Yeah - I quite liked that movie - was quite entertaining even if it plagurised 2001 in style a bit.
You know I never went to look at the graveyard in Oolite - I shall have to re-install and go have a look.
As, from memory, did Star Trek V crossing the Great Barrier (which looked suspiciously like those 1970's coloured blobs they use to project at discos: a kind of 2d Lava Lamp effect.)
I think the Tionisla graveyard is a mod, but pretty impressive.

I haven't tried many other mods. Liked oolite for a while, but not being able to land on planets is a pain, so it's one of the hi-res FFE's for me now. And after your artwork, they are all looking very dated....

Amazing.. i didn't knew that in Oolite there are such kind of nice surprises
with Oolite they made a great version of Elite, actually i'm playing on it.
edited now: i've read only now you are talking about the Oolite expansion pack.

Nice I wounder if the old rock hermits will be back in the game,also a dyson sphere would be nice to find in the game.

I think the 'Work in Progress' refers to the last expansion that was released for the EVE Online game - pretty game just one great big long repetitious yawn.
My fav out of these ones is 'The Iron Tide'. I love large scale space battles.
