Stutter Stutter Stutter since 1.3 - near stations, asteroids, and pretty much anything that has a model and collision

Before 1.3, Elite: Dangerous was smooth as butter. Frame rate through the roof. All ultra settings. Life in Space was good...

The new 1.3 comes along... now if I'm near a station, in a station, in a resource asteroid belt, or near a few other ships... the game becomes stutter stutter stutter, frame loss, stutter. And sometimes while flying by large asteroids, the entire asteroid isn't drawn... which makes it deadly for near misses.

Anyone else experiencing this? Sure would suck to give up my favorite space game cause a new patch makes the frame rate low when near other objects, which makes it difficult to hit targets, land, and fly by anything.

When I'm all alone in the black of space, it's smooth as usual. But whatever they did to 1.3 my two graphics cards don't like it. :(

I'm currently using two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti, The CPU is an AMD FX 9370 Eight-Core Processor, and I got 16 gigs of ram running windows 7 ultimate.

The rig doesn't have any problems running any other games. GTAV is fine, Stranded Deep, Shadow of Mordor, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Kerbal Space Program, Dying Light, and more... in fact, Elite: Dangerous 1.2 ran just fine. Whether flying cargo between star systems, or in the fray in a war zone... :-/

I kinda wish I could have Elite: Dangerous back.

Surely, I'm not the only one experiencing this. Right? :)

I had found it actually a lot smoother since 1.3 (I have 1 gtx 970) esp when dropping into systems which used to see a lot of stutter as the star zoomed into view, which was a real immersion breaker.

Well that's fine, but I was in a res last night and like you, I was getting some intermittent, but quite regular, judders, esp if there were a few people firing on one target - I don't recall getting that before.. no un-drawn asteroids (eek) but definitely dropping enough frames to lose track of my target..

I ended up resetting all my graphics settings to default in the Nvidia control panel and turning V-sync on in-game. Stutters have gone down a bit but aren't completely gone.

I have a gtx 980 i7 5820k

Same here. Getting dips down to 10FPS at times in ring, and have the occasional dip to 40fps in staions.. Running 2xGTX970 in SLI, and never used to drop below 160fps.

Feels like it is a memory issue or net lag issue. I had something similar last night, some stutters after 1 hour of play in busy systems/ RES sites. I had to log off for some RLO stuff and logged in a bit later, less CMDRS and NPC's in the area and stutter was gone. Played a while in SOLO last night to check this, and again some stutter after one hour RES hunting, without CMDRS around... makes me think it is more memory related... mem leak/ garbage collector?

Just my 2 cts...

PS: I have a pretty good sys: i7-3770k/ GTX970/ 8Gb RAM + Rift

Yep. Stuttering in stations for me. Feels like the game is having an epileptic fit.

High end end machines seem to be affected the most from all my reading on this subject.

Yep, same here, no problem on ultra in 1.2 but the day 1.3 launched I have stuttering in stations and around asteroids etc. Dropped back to high settings but not a lot of difference. Hope they sort it otherwise I am out of here

I just got into work and asked my coworkers (who are also my wingmen) if they noticed any stuttering also, they said yes,and one said it caused him to miss a few shots during combat at critical times. Hope Frontier fixes this soon, or at least roll us back to the more optimized 1.2.

LOL maybe if we get enough threads going and drown out all the Powerplay stuff they will focus on this issue! :) As you have already read my posts, and replies to the other threads, stuttering is everywhere for me..

I have an i7 4770k, 16GB RAM and 2 x GTX 780 SCs in SLI. All Ultra settings as always with consistent 170+ FPS.

I don't have any custom settings in NV control Panel nor do I use Geforce Experience. I am using 350.12, only the Driver and Physx is installed via custom and none of the other Nvidia 3D and Audio crud.

I have briefly played 1.3 for about 2 hrs total and only notice the SAME stuttering that was happening in SC while approaching planets/stations, etc. My first priority firing up 1.3 was to see if the SC stuttering was remedied, and so far with my config and drivers it is not. I only played at a Nav Point, so I need to check RES next time.

I also use Track IR and made notice if the tracking had any stuttering issues and it does not., aside from the usual initial stutter when using it the first time until panning around completely a few times.

As I play a bit more and check out RES sites, I will update whether I encounter any excessive stuttering that was not happening in 1.2

There has already been countless threads on this issue (both stutter and micro-stutter). I have 45 in my Stutter folder alone, and that's just the ones I chose to keep because they had something of interest in. The oldest is from October, but apparently some backers reported stutter back in Alpha.

As to the priority they are giving it, well you can make your own mind up.

stop talking about your GRAPHICSCARDS, this is LAG coming from a broken inadequate non-server backend

they went for a cheap P2P network, what do you expect? you think actual MMO companies are wasting money for fun on server farms?

Really ? Who am I P2Ping with when playing in solo mode ?

I didn't get the dropped frames/stutter before 1.3 but now get them occasionally - most noticeably in RESs (GTX 970, 4790K, etc)
