Stutter Stutter Stutter since 1.3 - near stations, asteroids, and pretty much anything that has a model and collision

There is a reason "Solo" is called "Solo". That's because it's not "Offline", so, there is definitely some network access when playing "Solo"...

Yeah i know that but the traffic should be really low in solo mode so i don't think it's a network issue. Feels more like bad texture streaming or something like that!

I have my bandwidth use display up pretty much all the time (CTRL+B in game), the use doesn't indicate any kind of network related issue during stutter.

I've never had any problems with stuttering, however I downloaded a huge file yesterday while playing 1.3 and got drops to 20-40 FPS. I'll try to reproduce this and test again with 1.4, it really looks like FPS are tied to network performance.

Must be, try to lower your up/dl and see if that effect the FPS. I get FPS drop when I do that.

I read in an earlier post that someone had fixed the issue after turning off motion blur. That was one of the first things I did as I really hate the effect in any game and have not had any stuttering in quite some time. Might be something to test.

I have never run with motion blur. In fact this issue occurs at the lowest graphic settings and at the highest, without change.

Hrm any news on possible solutions for this, near planets and such its stutter stutter for an annoying moment here too :(

In your dreams or you are blind...

It has nothing to do with the hardware, it's more engine related!

smooth as butter, I will repeat it. no I am not blind! my sight is 20/20. I only have stuttering during hyperspace jump. would you like me to post a video ?
I restrict frame rate to 40fps

open play no stuttering https://youtu.be/AmYPw7U_B9s no contacts though. I have done another jump to sol and recorded it.

I've still got loads of stuttering on my laptop as well, but I seem to have identified the cause on my end: Setting PhysX to CPU helped a lot, but the main culprit was actually the sound!

Whenever a stutter was about to occur, the sound always went away first. It got quiet, and then came the stutter (usually in the form of the screen freezing for up to 5 seconds), and then when it's over the sound is back.
So I disabled all music and sound effects, and the stutters ceased entirely.

Could it be an issue with the audio engine? The graphics card I've got is perfectly able to run the game on Ultra at a stable 60 FPS (except in stations), and the stutters do strike me as the kind of stutters you get when the CPU is struggling with something.

Edit: Another thing I've noticed is the stutters and audio issues increase in frequency with other players in the space around me, even in normal and hyperspace.

So my stuttering has gotten worse the last few days. Going from 180fps to 10fps. Not sure if related but I keep getting stuck coming out of super cruise. Also bulletin boards don't load and commodities aren't selling. Plus I'm getting dropped from server. My internet has been fine and its good net too :D

Maybe 1.4 stress test related?

Sounds like you have two separate issues at once. Bulletin boards not loading and commodities not selling sounds like server issues or connection issues, so that might be stress test related. The FPS issue coming out of supercruise sounds like the AMD windows 10 driver issue some people seem to be having.

I have a Core i7 computer with Intel SSD, nVidia GTX 970, 12 GB RAM.

I have a VDSL internet wire, 34 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up with a 30ms ping.

Elite settings is on "High" only (game says i can set it on "Ultra")

I have a lot of stuttering near asteroids and planets. No other game is like that. A game like Wow is very smooth.

No issues with any other game, but Elite is terrible at any resolution or setting apart from the lowest on everything.

Got a response from support months ago that they recognised the issue and were able to replicate it on my hardware configuration. I've been told I should just watch for a fix in the patch notes. Still waiting frontier...

This just seems to be getting worse. Never had the micro stutter before this weekend, now I can't go near a station, world or star without there being a 'pause' in the game. This on top of the issue that is being blamed on AMD drivers is making the game a joke right now.

Super cruise at 15FPS with pauses as you travel - Not what I paid money for.

i5 3470
4Gb Ram
500GB SSD
R9 390 8Gb

Playing at 1080p.

These issues only crop up when I am in a system with AI. When I'm alone in a system the FPS can go as high as 230FPS but if just one of the little computer people jump in then the game goes to bits... In my office we have an idea about what is happening but without breaking the EULA we cannot prove it, plus we have better things to do than fix another companies game.

That's good news that they've been able to replicate the issue on your hardware configuration. Shame it's taking so long for a fix. Perhaps this is part of the 'interaction with launcher issue' previously mentioned. Looking forward to getting the new launcher when 1.4 drops.

The acknowledgement that they can replicate the issues is fantastic news. No point getting all snippy because you don't have a fix yet. One project I remember doing, took us 6 months of collating user data and thorough testing to find the cause of an issue. Just because they've managed to reproduce the issue, doesn't mean it'll be fixed quickly - it means that they have a very good starting spot from which to test.

Don't forget that any changes they do will have to be tested across a dozen or more different types of setups; they can't just fix the issue for your particular setup and expect it to work for everyone else.

Have patience and think positive, the fix will come. :)
