Stutter Stutter Stutter since 1.3 - near stations, asteroids, and pretty much anything that has a model and collision

It is WAY better in 1.4, and with the new (announced) launcher it should be even better. I have +20 % framerates at the same place in 1.4 than in 1.3 . (970 GTX).

I can guarantee that when 1.3 was released I no longer had any stutter in the game. But since a few weeks ago, the game again had stutters on a large scale.

I need help because one day in a space station my shields turned off and have not turned back on so i was hoping someone could can help me with my problem that would be great. Thanks

Hi CMDR Storm Hunter. Not sure that your problem has anything to do with the thread but it sounds like you've accidentally turned them off. I'm at work at the moment so don't have the client in front of me but if you to to the right hand screen there should be a "modules" section. In that you can turn modules on and off. That would be the first place to check. It's possible that you're oversubscribed with power so it's worth checking that and if you are move your cargo hatch and FSD into module group 2 and make sure your shield is in module group 1. All this is done from the modules menu.

Playing yesterday for the first time in a few weeks and didn't see any drops whilst in hyperspace for the first time in ages. Although around planets it seemed slightly worse in terms of the actual framerate drop.

i7 16gb gtx760 - ultra (no stutter)
i5 8gb gtx650 - high (no stutter).

No idea why some get it and others don't (or why some, like myself, have never had this issue) but hopefully 1.4 will bring improvements for some.

Also....

Sounds like you either removed your shields in outfitting and didn't replace them or you turned them off in a right hand side panel and need to turn them back on.

However this post is completely off-topic - if the suggestions above do not help, please either search the forum for existing threads or start a new one (rather than posing your question in an unrelated one).

Tried 1.4 live briefly last night - still getting stutter when in Metal Rich asteroid fields (example: Xihe 1 Ring A Hi-RES). This took the form of a freeze of up to approx. half a second every 7-15 seconds when flying through the ring, but also sometimes happened when opening one of the ship's panels (which was sometimes accompanied by the audio stuttering/crackling slightly, which I almost never had before).

I have this too, I didn't think to try different ring types, after the patch I tried an icy and had the hitches every 10-20 secs.

strange... can you please submit a support ticket? They need as many examples of this as possible so we can all have smooth RES back for everyone! :)

1.3 no longer exists.

Does not change the fact that many people had this issue start with the launch of 1.3, while previously it was fine.........

FD, just so you know, stutter is completely gone for me now. There is none, zero, zilch stutter.
I didn't experience that much of it in 1.3, but no stutter at all is even better. :)

I have this problem minus the sound issue. Metal rich RES, 0.5 second pause every 15-20 seconds. Rocky RES, smooth as silk.

Suxxors should I hold off on updating, really don't want it to be like almost getting to 2nd base and then being denied...;)

Just tried other asteroid types in 1.4:
Icy - small hitches every so often, nowhere near as bad as Metal-Rich
Rocky - OK
Metallic - OK (but this was a belt cluster with very few asteroids)

I thought I would take the notes I previously made on when I get stutter and the frequency and do a then and now comparison:
- exiting from super cruise (stutters for a few seconds esp. when facing a station) - then 95% now OK (I think, need to play more)
- exiting from hyperspace - then 85% now OK
- during supercruise usually when target is 1-3 LS away - then 75% now OK (shader warming seems to fix this for me, AMD card)
- during hyperspace sequence - then 100% now 100%
- during interdictions - then 40% now: need to test
- major stuttering and slow-down in some RES now: see above
- during 'spinning ship' loading screen - then 100% now 100%
- rotating coriolis on main menu (minor hitch every 3-4 secs) - then 100% now 100%

Since 1.4 I have not been noticing any stuttering at all. Everything has been perfectly smooth. I'm using an AMD card, 7870 ghz edition, 2gb, and an AMD FX 8350 processor. 8 core 4.2 ghz, and 8 gigs ddr3 ram.

Oh man thanks for all this info. I will test the same types and also report that in my ticket. +Rep for that info!

Hmm, well I thought my stutter had totally vanished, but still a small stutter in metallic-style belts only, no other kind and still absent from supercruise. So improved for me, Amd card i7 chip.
