Stuttering during hyperspace jump and gameplay in general

What's the go with the freeze/stutter during hyperspace jumps? The stutter occurs during regular gameplay as well but it ALWAYS happens during every hyperspace jump that I make. I'm playing on a PS4 Pro and I've tried both quality and performance graphical settings and it doesn't seem to matter. It happens on both settings. Performance on the PS4 Pro is not very stable. Any plans to revisit performance for the console versions?

Thanks.

It looks like you're near the galactic core which from my experience (which is from around 2.2 days I think) always caused my game to stutter every jump because the game has trouble calculating the dense cluster of stars for the skybox and what not.

You may be right because performance does seem to be getting worse the closer to the core I get. Even the galaxy map is slow and sluggish now.. Disappointing to be honest.

The galaxy map got snail slow a couple of patches back. It used to be pretty quick but it keeps getting slower. I'm out in the void plotting routes in excess fo 10,000 at a time and I can go make a brew, have a pee and check the news before I get back to my seat and its still at 85%....

Not only that but it occasionally fails on previously plotted routes for no apparent reason other than stubborness.

This is happening to me too, it has only started in the last couple of weeks, and is wasting the experience, especially in my SRV.
I have a PS4 Pro and not had any bother before this.

Yea, ps4 pro... driving srv and surface flying has a very noticable frame freeze every 10 seconds or so, its getting very annoying, especaily when landing on high g bodies. I wonder if reinstalling the game will help? Another issue is the star field, it doesnt load properly 80% of the time. Big patches of stars missing. Restarting the game loads stars correctly. I wonder if this is a connection error.

Good to see that I'm not the only one that is experiencing this I guess. Yes I have also seen the missing starfield, it's usually a triangle slice missing like someone ate a slice of the pizza! Black holes are kinda weird too...

The thing is, putting the game on "performance mode" didn't stop the freezing/stuttering either. So much for better performance.

To be honest performance seems to have steadily gotten worse on the PS4 Pro with every patch for me.

Same here ps4 std. Hyperspace stuttering, planet surface flying stutters, and stutters when driving the srv. Only seems to affect my primary account though. A secondary account, still on the sidey runs fine

Secondary account runs fine, on the same machine?
I tried many configurations, 1080i, 720p, performance mode, changing dns, hardwiring, but have not tried a second account. My starfield is gone after about the 6th jump, no stars loading at all, mostly.

Yeah secondary account runs great on the same ps4 and internet connection. The disappearing starfield issue is a known thing and due to how stellar forge works, eventually you should fly into a new star box. That's how it seems anyway

Several recent, in the last year, games have had this issue. They have reached the limit of PS4 and PS4 Pro capability. IMO they need to dial back some of the background until PS5. Several of the more recent games were designed with the thought that the users would be using latest gen top of the line PC capabilities and a console that is running on 10 year old tech is not going to perform well.

I somewhat agree with you. However, ED isnt much of a graphics hog. It requires very little cpu power to run smooth. But i may be wrong.

Yes, by industry standards, ED is not a graphics hog. However, consoles are way behind industry standards.

Microsoft shipped xbox one x late last year which means their product probably has the chipset nearest to current program features but it is still not next gen at processor, storage, and memory levels.

Sony is rolling out software patches to try and cover their aging equipment. HDR, VR, 4k HD, etc are features that are pushing the limits.

PC's are easier to bring up to speed because you can swap out a card or add more RAM, to some extent. IMO, they should start allowing for some components on consoles to be upgraded without requiring a completely new console to be released to market but that is how consoles stay in business so, yeah you know :D

Developers are using the newer features, which consoles are really stretching to provide, because PC's already support these features very easily and devs don't want to be held back by a manufacturer. They want to create a product that will work from now till some time in the future. Not a product that will work on something that was 10 years ago, then have to foot overhead cost of updating again in a year when the manufacturer finally catches up to the industry standard.

Try rebuilding your database. My game used to stutter horribly in RES until I rebuilt the database and now the game runs much smoother in all situations.

I see this thread has devolved into the typical "consoles are garbage, PCs are great" drivel. Tell that to Spider-Man, the God of War, Aloy, heck even Lara Croft! They will all laugh at you.

Anthem on PC is hot garbage but on console it looks and runs smooth. PC Master race my butt lol

I'm on a PC with Oculus, so I'm probably not even allowed to post here, but here goes:

I experience something similar as the OP. I also see horrible FPS from time to time, with double vision all over. It typically happens when using the Galaxy Map, after returning to the cockpit. When that happens, in many cases, I can get perfectly smooth performance by quickly switching to System Map and back. Looking at CPU and GPU performance in Task Manager doesn't show anything alarming. Also changing graphics settings to high/low changes nothing to the better. It seems that it has to do with memory swap. I don't know for sure but it could be processes in the background like loading the next system, or in the case of Galaxy Map, loading it and then loading the cockpit after plotting a route etc. I remember from the PS3 days, how packed everything had to be on the PS. Textures were packed to the last pixel on some of the later PS3 games, and since PS4 (I had one and liked it) is getting old, that might be the case again.

Try the System Map quick toggle before jumping, and see if it changes anything. In that case consider reporting it as a bug.

Thanks for the suggestion but I've only just recently swapped out the standard HDD for a hybrid drive and there's only a handful of games on there at the moment so I wouldn't think it would be too far gone just yet. Games in general seem to load faster with the new drive and the operating system isn't as sluggish either.

Since posting this thread I've also witnessed similar stuttering while using the FSS. While moving the cursor across the screen it will often pause and then jump forward often passing the target that you wanted to scan due to the stutter. Not the end of the world but it is annoying as it happens very regularly.
