Stuttering near objects? Try this:

I hope the Devs are reading this. In this day and age it's sad that we would have to make a custom config for the game to run right.

I also have this problem, but wont be fiddling for the moment.

Yes.. But but this is half the fun of PC gaming.. Tweaks

It is probably this way to make game run better for the less experienced PC gamer with int graphics.
It would be nice to have a "high end" toggle to switch these things tho

Just be glad we are not creating custom autoexec.bat files on a floppy to set up expanded memory... Oh those were the days..

Mine stutters and it is starting to drive me crazy.

Intel 3930k
32gb of ram
Radeon 7970
Running on an EVO 850 SSD
50mbit internet connection

And yet, I constantly see "Slow Decode" on the bottom left of my screen and I have a stutter jumping into systems and when coming in close to a planetary system.

I think being in the US is probably the reason.

I'm not too sure about that... I live in the US as well (PacNW) and have NO connection issues, even with a slower (30Mbit) connection. Additionally, I am also running a Sandy Bridge (not -E) processor, less RAM (16GB), a pair of old Patriot SSDs (RAID0), and, up until 5 wks ago, was even running an even OLDER GPU, (HD6870). Absolutely no stutter for me... even then. And my frames never dropped below 40FPS with that old of a card.

I would do a thorough check of your rig, make sure you have no driver inconsistencies or incongruencies. Virus Sweep, Registry cleanup, the works.... Then check your router, if connected to one... Then try again.
I would also recommend checking for a firmware update for your router, as I've had issues with that in ones I've owned in the past.

I have next to no stutter in SC( a little from time to time), but always in "hyperspace".

Your system kicks the pants off mine,(fx6350, radeon 6870, 8gig ram, ssd)
One change i made which helped was to lower my Nic speed to 100mb/s from 1Gbps. I have doubts that the cheap realtek chips on motherboards can keep up at times. Your router may also be struggling at that speed.

I also turned off some of the offloads because today's multicore procs are just much more powerful than the Nic chips... Where even 5-10 years ago it was needed.

After a few days of trying this I see no difference. Thanks for the tip though, hope it helped some.

Same here. Only played for a short while but if anything the stutter was worse, mainly when exiting hyperspace (in front of star) and in SC when approx 1-2LS away from destination. I reverted the config as for me the stutter is better since 1.2 (I seem to be the only one!), it's really the near-constant micro-stutter that is bothering me the most. Thanks to the OP for trying to help though.

Post subscribed to - I will be trying this when I get home.

My hard drive is slow, so I figured my own stuttering was just related to some texture swapping. These stutters only occur when nearing planets and their satellites, or when jumping into a system.

I noticed that when I return to a planet, the stuttering all but disappears, suggesting that the textures are cached...?

Alas tried this out and:-
- Still get little tiny judders/stutters in RES.
- Still get strange frame rate drops in stations.
- Still get 1/2 second freezes when approaching planets at times.
