Yeah, I wouldn't have any problem with that at all, but only there was an unconditional caveat that it would never compromise the quality of existing free play through a lack of support to prioritise paid server issues etc. No, that's a good idea.
As long as i wouldnt have to pay any other content, id be happy to pay for online pay. It secures the devs money to uphold and evolve the game without the need for payware dlc.
I dont know why people have developed an almost phobic hate towards monthly fees, isnt it common sense that you pay for a service? Hosting online servers isnt free.
Of course, with a monthly fee also comes the right to demand a certain level of quality of said service.
But for online gaming requiring more then a simple masterserver, id gladely pay for a good game.

It's a no for me too. I need to feed a family of four on one salary, and already pay for enough things on a monthly basis. Besides, for me, it's all about single player. I have no intention of ever sharing my milky way with other people. Unless it's just a couple of friends on a locally hosted game.
It's not phobic, it's financial. Some of us can't work for various reasons, school and medical come to mind... and monthly payments are just not in the budget.

Sorry guys I just don't buy the "I can't afford 5 $ a month" argument. You bought into alpha/beta, that's already an indication that you are capable financially. You do not live in rural India. You can afford to skip one cup of coffee in a bar.
Just having a pc to play elite dangerous is already good enough indication about your financial status overall.

No. I would not pay a monthly subscription. If they want to sell vanity items that do not effect game play, that is fine with me and I would probably buy some (have already put over $100 into this game). Elite is mainly a single player experience for me with the occasional multi player thrown in for those occasions when I'm feeling social.
You obviously have no clue what it means to be living on the edge... sure... one month maybe here and there... if lucky, and IF I don't eat for a few days. The game was bought on a donation. My computer was mostly donated parts to the disabled. I'm reasonably certain if you had to live on my income for 6 months you would be begging in the streets.
NEVER assume you know another situation in life, I would honestly class that and a bully and a tyrant comment.
Interessting... many cons about a fee. I understand that nobody wanna pay to much. But i see it as a investment in a living and expanding universe. Hmm, we will see what FD will do in future. Looking for a release and the announcing of the first expansion. About expansion... will you buy in or put you this aside ? First expansion should contain planetary landings if i´m correct. Are you interested ? And how much will you pay for it ?

No. Just no. I paid my money to be able to play the game(not to mention the grand I spent building a PC just for this game) I'm not paying more to keep playing. Plenty of games have fully functional multiplayers without making you pay for it. I'm not paying for something I should get anyway.
