Sudden increased memory usage and crashing

So I recently had to go away on a couple of business and personal trips. It meant I couldn't play ED for a few weeks.

When I got back to it, I have found the GPU memory consumption to have massively increased. It's now maxing out my 16GB RTX3080 within about 20min of play time and crashing the game.

I hadn't changed any settings in the game, although I have now selected "VR MIN" to no effect.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Edit: GPS->GPU

Sorry no.
And I'm running a 3080 on 517.46. I played in VR for a couple of hours about a week ago and have flat-screened at 4K for multiple hours since then too.

I've just downloaded the latest drivers for my 3090fe. Nps wotsoever compared to last version where l had to roll back cos they was not working for my rig.
These new ones dated 12th Oct 22 do work. Plus their slightly faster.

Same as above loaded clean Oct 12th driver all good. Make sure you don't have any stupid overlays or notifications on when running also. I run game glass also and first noticed the problem on there where the server kept disconnecting. I removed GE Force experience and turned all windows notifications off been running very smooth without any of those. I have had a couple instances where I get back from an hour long mission and black screen when going to board. Then you have to restart and the mission is pretty much screwed.

Thanks. I now remember installing an Overlay thingy for the Canonn EDMC plugin shortly before I left on my trips. I'll look into that when I get home and see what happens.

I can't play the current build of ED:O on my 3090 using steam VR. I get awful stuttering and a hard crash to desktop with in 5 mins.

luckily open composite completely fixed my issues and it runs way better.

it's only ED:O with steam VR. ED:H is fine.

i updated my driver's last night to the newest ones in the hope it's a driver issue (not that I really care as open composite is better.......) but I could not be bothered testing as I didn't have my lenses in

Thanks for the mention of Open Composite. It is so much better now - over two hours straight, no crashes and better performance. According to the OpenXR Toolkit Companion app, memory appeared to average 4GB the whole time. I have no idea what's happened with Steam VR...

Does anyone know if Open Composite supports projecting running application windows into the VR environment? (whatever the correct term for that is). fpsVR doesn't work (known issue) and OVR Toolkit crashes things
