Sudden judder or momentary freeze

uhh thankyou Neil Degrasse Tyson , but i'm already aware of how space & simulations work lol
So you questioned me, in order to space-splain "correct" me, only to then correct yourself by stating it's just a slightly inaccurate video game ( cuz reasons aka player immersion ) which of course therefore validates my original description you first questioned. -- Forums are the best! 💫
( no i'm not "mad" i'm just pilot-to-pilot teasin' ya abit CMDR , o7 , /ducks )

Back on-topic: FDev silence = micro-stuttering issue will be fixed with upcoming Vanguards patch! /discuss

Sorry, just couldn't figure out wind as the wobbliness is the same from any direction... Don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. Or that overblown windbag that you mentioned in your post...

... been to quite a few ground bases ( including an Engineer one ) where my ship swayed side to side on approach WITH windy whooshing sounds too.
...

Aren't all Engineer bases on bodies with no atmosphere? I don't know about the Odyssey engineers though, not dealt with them yet.

honestly dude it's no big deal , i was just giving you some good natured forum-ribbing is all

lol , there's nothing to figure out though . Space is space. Game is game. Next time i'll just say "wind" in quotes.

Next time i land at the umm "windy" Engineer base , i will make a note of which specific Engineer it is so u guys can go visit and see what i mean. ( as if it even matters lol )
As @Pville_Piper mentioned on page 7 though , it's more related to the SHIP ( large ) flying rather than the base itself.

Annnnnnnndddddd we've gotten wayyyyyy off-topic here.
Peace out CMDRs! (y)

Same issues. No PP, no FC, and I'm over 20k LY from the bubble. As with others, happens regularly at the previously mentioned intervals.
Enabled verbose logging yesterday for today's session, and sure enough, just after 15 minutes past the hour - GPSS updates.

Checked Reddit last night about this issue. There are a lot of unhappy campers out there. Some were throwing big bucks at their rigs, thinking it was a hardware issue. Bottom line on most comments were "It's server side and Frontier will not fix it as they do not care."

There are quite a few cancellations and errors in the xml unfortunately yes. But it's interesting you don't have GPSS either. I do have Verbose Logging turned on in an AppConfigLocal.xml file, so it's reckon it's because of that. Mine looks like this.

Obviously if you're on an IPv6 connection it would need to be different. To be honest you could probably just put the verbose logging in.

You can just add the Verbose logging to the main AppConfig.xml, but it will be removed every time the game updates which is why I've put it in a local file.

Just an FYI - I turned on the logging option in settings which set verbose logging on - no GPSS

Next session I added VerboseLogging="1" to AppConfig.xml and lo-and-behold - loads and loads of GPSS entries.

Maybe the first session didn't "do the job" as I never restarted.

Gosh, if all those Reddit users were to comment the tracker... :D

And yet somehow still not in Acknowledged status.

I wonder what it takes for them to "Acknowledge" such an obvious and seemingly ubiquitous issue? It is actually spoiling my enjoyment of the game.

Also - why is there not a chorus of "fix the stutters" in the dangerous discussion forum?

That's what this thread is. Just that sometimes pitchforks and torches don't help.

What I meant was that this sub-sub-forum probably doesn't get as much traffic as the dangerous discussions forum - so having this issue raised in there might have produced more "issue tracker" pressure. (As it is still not "acknowledged".)

Yeah... it may get more views in DD but I don't think we can post about again there - it'd be locked as a duplicate methinks. I originally posted in the PC section as I thought it was client hardware related (i.e. me :D ).

Still, we can but hope - even harder now as it doesn't appear to have been addressed in tomorrow's update.

I'm pretty sure FDev are aware of it but they may have their hands full with other stuffs atm.

Does GPSS = General Purpose Simulation System?
There is a lot of Google search results on this being what is described as happening by Markov Chaney in post #32 in this thread.

I've noticed a stutter happen, usually about 15mins in game, when in supercruise just after a hyperspace jump, and when a cruise ship flies in system spouting its text lines.

Probably just coincidence but I'm convinced its their "delays" thats to be blamed >x<

Small joke aside the stutters only happen once or twice... then smooth sailing, sometimes even never.

I should also add that overall elite has been slightly more stable since I told Kaspersky to block mic access for elite dangerous. (I never use the in game VC anyways)

I uploaded a capture of a typical instance of this issue including a tail of the netlog file as it happens.

Source: https://youtu.be/LdbG5V-E8Cw

I hit "record" just a second or two into the issue so you can see the problem right at the start. Framerate from ctl-f shows drops (from a normal constant 60) but doesn't really reflect the severity of the stuttering.

The initial phase goes from 09:25:15 game time to 09:25:30 then normal framerate of 60 resumes. This lasts around 10s, then the second phase hits with a big pause at 09:25:40 after which the problem is over until the next ?5 minutes past the hour.

The netlog appears normal during the first phase, but the huge pause in the second phase is accompanied by a flurry of netlog chatter repeating:

GPSS m_systemMapIt != m_systemMap.End() state change 6->5
GPSS AddJobs state change 5->6

I've seen this exact pattern repeat several times now, it's only happening in Elite Dangerous and frames are a constant 60 outside these isolated '?5-past-the-hour' issues.

Perfect example of the problem, well done. Hopefully the Fdev team can squish this very annoying bug, SOON.
