Sufficient Amount of Felines?

Cats will always sell well so I hope we can count for at least 2 more.

Unique and long legged Serval would not be so hard to make after they’ve already created bouncing Caracal 🙂

Ocelot would be really neat too

I am good with canines but there is a good chance we would get another one too. I really wouldn’t mind Bat Eared Fox because of it’s looks and versatility to keep with other species (meerkats, porcupines, red River hogs and lots more).

I'll be satisfied when we get some smaller cats, since the ones we've got are all big or medium-sized. I'd love a serval or Scottish wildcat, as they're both common in the British zoos I like to build. Aside from those, I wouldn't say no to larger cats like the Sumatran tiger or (for my Florida zoos) the bobcat, although I understand they're very similar to animals we've got already and more unique animals are needed at this stage.

As for canids, I'm with those that want a raccoon dog as they're very common in British zoos and also pretty unique.

This is a hot take, but I feel like we have more than enough Felines at this point. I like Felines, they're among my favorite of families, but I would be completely fine without adding in anymore. With the Caracal, we'll now have 11 if my count is right. We have some smaller cats in addition to the larger cats. They span all the biomes they're naturally found in as well as all the continents they're naturally found in. I realize the Sand Cat, Pallas Cat and Ocelot are requested...but where we stand now...what are people's takes on whether we need them or not?

I would like at least two more small cats. One from the Americas, like the ocelot and one truly small cat like Pallas.

After the Maned Wolf, the tanuki (Japanese Raccoon Dog) is the one I see mentioned most often,

Also the bush dog I think.

I would definitely take more felines. The game especially lacks small cat variety. A few that come to mind for me are

Black footed cat looks cute but looks are deceiving with these little guys they are the meanest animal in my local zoo.

Pallas cat unique and would make a great addition to PZ imo.

Sumatran tiger controversial not a small cat species but with only a couple hundred left and common in many zoos I’d personally take one in a heartbeat. To me it’s as good as any similar species.

But I’d take the ocelot among many others.

Ocelots are also a lot bigger than most people expect, pretty much equal to the caracal. The Margay is a better pick for the "small spotted jungle cat" niche imo :)
I've been voting for the margay instead, but I just mentioned the ocelot because it's popular. A serval (my favorite), a margay, and a Pallas's cat would really help fill that small cat role for me. If we get more slots, I tend to agree with the people suggesting a sand cat and a fishing or golden cat for southeast Asia. I hope we get enough animals for even more.

About the dogs, I think I would want about 1/25 animals to be a dog. One of the main two I want would be the Tanuki/Raccoon Dog, which is different and cute. It's a favorite of a bunch of people on the forum, and I think it would sell well. I honestly thought it was a photoshopped animal until I got here. The other, my favorite, would be the Black-Backed Jackal. It's a different taxonomic group. They are kind of small and look like coyotes, but they are more visually distinct from wolves and live in Africa. To me, jackals are an ABC animal that a lot of people would be familiar with. Bush dogs would be cool for variety in South American sections, but there are about 15 species I would want ahead of them for South American diversity. I also would eventually like the pretty grey or island fox and funky bat-eared fox. Both are different taxonomically from the other foxes. The former can climb trees and is the most basal canid, and the latter looks cool. Other people are rooting for various wolf species and subspecies, so I think 1/25 is a good ratio for dogs going forward.

For big cats, I'd be fine without any more. I suppose my favorite would be the African Leopard, which would provide a carnivore for the African jungle, but I could live without it. If the Sumatran tiger or Asiatic lion introduced a better model, I could get excited about them as well, but I would be happier if they updated the old ones, particularly the lion. I'm a little tired of big cats though, and I wouldn't want to see one added for a while.

We absolutely need more small cats. Preferably one from each continent (minus Australia). They are ecologically important, endangered, charismatic, and woefully represented in game compared with what is found in rl zoo collections.

Happy for no dogs but, if we got one,

Only if Australia gets a quoll!

I would not care about getting a new (small) feline as long as it is not a subspecies of a big cat. I say this as somenone who isn't the biggest cat fan boy.

I personally don't need any more felines and canines, even tough I would be OK with one or two more small cats. I personally would take a margay, as we're still missing a small American cat (but I would also be absolutely OK with an ocelot or oncilla). On the other hand, an Asian cat would also be cool, I'm not a big fan of the manul, but I think it would add something to the game. A fishing cat would also be nice, but in this case I think that we need a ton more of primates and birds before them.
For canines on the other hand, I really hope that the maned wolf was the last. Every continent now has its canine (even the one that probably shouldn't have one) and that's more than enough.

I do not want to be offend and I really do not want to say you should wish Different but I think the Margay will not come instead of an Ocelot. The Ocelot is much more common known and places also much higher on the Meta Wishlist. With inclusion of the Caracal it should even be now the most popular cat. I am pretty sure that the Ocelot will be the choice if we should get another American jungle cat.

Oh, I know. I just personally think it would be a better choice for variety's sake. I would still be very happy to receive an ocelot.

Definitely need a small cat for non-tropical Asia and South America - Pallas cat and ocelot/margay would be my picks. I'd want the serval as well, but can see the argument that it's a slightly lower priority now that the caracal is in the mix (I'd argue Africa+grassland+mid-size is sufficiently different from Africa/Asia+grassland/desert+small, but whatever). Definitely wouldn't say no to a fishing cat or European wildcat, but I don't think I'd miss them too much if support ended without them

As for canines, I think we're possibly sufficient as far as 'standard' ones go (I'll never say no to more animals, but, you know, priorities...), though we do seem to be missing a jackal of some sort. Bush dog is the only one that springs to mind as 'missing' now.

Margay are also the most arboreal cats in the world.

I think it depends on the theme which one we would get of the two; if it's a rainforest theme, then yeah, they would probably go the broader appeal of the ocelot. If it's, say, an "arboreal" theme, the margay fits better.

I can live without more cats, but I'd still like the sand cat, the only true small cat. Caracal, ocelot, pallas cat and the rest are all much larger than people realise.
