General / Off-Topic Suggest Dolby atmos cans

Greetings,

my dream to update to Klipsch Dolby Atmos is not happening in 2019. Meanwhile, I heard about that crutch using the xbox App with a pair of suitable cans.

Here I am not on the ball when it comes to market offers, and a lot of stuff looks like kid toys to me instead of serious headphones. For monitoring (Synthesizer) I use DT770Pro from Beyerdynamic.

Concerning wireless, I would be concerned wearing wifi signals ( Is it wifi?) so close for a long time. Not good. I stand to be corrected.

So, can you suggest, out of your own experience, excellent cans for using explicitly for Xbox games supporting the Dolby Atmos app.

Thanks!

The audio is processed in hardware not in headset...
Xbox unlocks the atmos 2 channel virtual surround sound 7.1 filter on the console not the headset after you pay the license fee for the app...
Any headphones used for any other device can be used... from £2 inear to £2000 vacuum tube pre amp headphones... its just a distortion filter to fool the brain on the few games that support atmos other times its converting DD5.1 to virtual 7.1 via the stereo audio out...

If your a rock headbanger (aka can't hear bass) then youll want a different pair to those who want the sound stage unaltered by the cans...
So a pair of Sennheiser HD 599 would be the middle of the road... to start with but might need a pre amp can't remember of hand...

As for wireless. The out put is LESS than a normal Wifi 2.4 ghz router than you walk though each day which is why most RF headsets can not go more than 30 meters, Wifi routers go a lot longer on the 2.4ghz as they have higher RF output... (The wifi group got new rules passed for next gen wifi so your neighbors wifi will radiate you alot more than your own soon when they upgrade.)

Wifi direct on the Xbox one is locked down, so only specific headsets that use the specific wifi direct code for Xbox one get wireless support for xbox one and the Xbox one dongle these will be console specific... but these are headsets an need mic support so have to play microsofts way to get compliance... so native wireless remains highly limited for xbox one as with out the Wifi direct code they require a wire to the controller still...

Plantronics has a good and affordable headset that also supports Dolby Atmos on Xbox One. It's the RIG 800 type if I recall correctly. Well, "affordable" relatively speaking of course. It also comes with a Dolby Atmos subscription so you don't have to spend on it separately.

vacuum tube pre amp headphones...

We have the same taste I guess! :) My DT's go through RME Digiface soundcard, solid drivers, and decent DAC.

I nearly could get my Klipsch Dreamsetup for that price.

Solid Information folks, thanks much. Yes, makes sense, it's only psychoacoustics at the end of the day. I think I just load the app, there is a 2 weeks trial I think, and try it with my trusted cans.

@dreampage, yeah had a look at these plantronics as well, but if my DT's are all right, I'll stick with them.

I still use my HyperX cloud 2's on PC which are true Dolby 7.1 via the soundcard but came with the ATMOS software for free, I like them because they're very comfy and completely noise cancelling.

On Xbox I still use my old Turtle Stealth X04's with ATMOS...they're comfy too...cheap and cheerful and not bad sound :)

Awww crap, my wireless xb1 controllers don't have a 3.5 port, and the adapter cost 40 Euro

It will also depend on the what impedance build of the DT770pro you got, the 250ohm builds will need a pre amp even after you get the adapter...
If you got the 32ohm build you should be fine-ish with the adapter...

I have the Rig 500 Pro HC, £69.99. They're ok, but not astonishing. They do come with an Atmos code

Ah yes, good thing you mentioned that, I have the 600 ohm Version, with less "bums" in the bass frequency, suits me for prolonged monitoring.
