Suggested markets - where are they??!

I’m fairly new Elite Dangerous and currently I have this issue:

In the compare markets section of commodities, there’s an option for suggested markets. Some of the suggested market locations I can find on the system locations in navigation. However some of the suggested market locations do not appear on system locations.

What do I do to find them?

I accidentally went to one of these last night with my loaded Type-9. Actually, I didn't go there, I tried, but couldn't find it in Horizons. And figured immediately what was up.

However, I wasn't aware that these settlements actually have Commodities Markets? Maybe I was mistaken after watching some Odyssey video gameplay where where the player said trade wasn't possible. Cool if you actually can trade with them in Odyssey!

I see. That’s annoying. I thought for some reason, the non-existent suggested markets may have to be “discovered” on planets in order for them to appear in navigation.

Oh well, hopefully Odyssey will appear on the PS4 version that I’m playing some day.

Thanks anyway for the info. No doubt I’ll be asking for more advice the deeper into the game I get!

You can use inara or EDDB for your markets need. EDDB have a special icon for Odyssey markets, so you don't do a mistake.
They are both 3rd party website on the internet.

ODSY settlements DO have commodities markets. I found a planet that had two settlements 1mn apart that I could make 4Mil a run on in my T7 :)

I tend to try and find routes just using the in game tools and that certainly helps at the moment because I'm sure not ALL ODSY settlements are mapped in INARA.

You can help adding them (if you play on PC) by running one of the data collection apps that send this info to EDDN.

Interesting to note with this:

The markets horizons players can not access, tend to be the markets trading for the highest prices...

Get the tin foil hats out boys and girls, there's a conspiracy theory there somewhere.

Yes, I run EDDiscovery. Which probably explains why my previous little route is now trashed due to the market being published :)

There's two reasons for that

1) Fewer people can access them - and in some cases, only in small-pad ships - so the chance of them being at full supply/demand for highly-traded commodities is higher (and the chance of EDDB data being out of date and only showing the good price from days ago is higher too)

2) The Odyssey markets are much more likely to be split between multiple factions in a system rather than one or two consolidated ones, so there's more opportunities for extreme price-altering states to affect markets.

The combination leads the Odyssey ones to be more likely to appear on a "top 10" list.

Where the states and supply/demand position are the same, the prices seem to be the same as Horizons markets, though, at least for a small sample of goods I checked.

I guess I'm experiencing this same issue. I own Odyssey and it's installed but my old graphics card can't handle it currently (Combat Tutorial turns into a slide-show and I keep dying), so when I launch the game I just launch Horizons.

I found a great trade price on a commodity just in the station's commodities market. The "buyer" was a planetary base - Fiorentino Nutrition Base - in LHS 1547. I've been to that system before and have fully FSS'd it plus scanned all the planets. But when I went there with the commodity to sell I couldn't find find that base anywhere. Re-FSS'd every planet and physically went to the ones with human settlements but could not find this base. Of course it's a double-star system so it took a few hours to scan, re-scan and revisit.

While I was there I landed on a few stations and pulled up the commodities market and Fiorentino was still listed as a buyer, with the distance as 0.0 ly. So it's sounding like Odyssey bases are leaking over into Horizons but with just running Horizons we can't get to them. And yeah, as someone mentioned above, this base was paying nearly double for the commodity than any others.

Update: Found this title in the Issue Tracker and added my confirmation, "In Horizons client the commodities market shows in the prices compare assemblys from Odyssey" . Was reported May 26th.

Xir.
