Suggestion for improved Salvage gameplay.

I would like to see much more made of Salvage game play. With this in mind I have a suggestion.

Implement Salvage missions to find an object but that object is not just shown in your contacts when you get to the suitably large debris field of ship wreckage or suitable maze like planetary location.

Instead you have to actually search for the object visually. The player should be given an image of what they are looking for along with the mission.

You would need a new salvage related ship utility mount:
Floodlight – utility mount that adds a huge floodlight, multiple can be added for greater effect.

Some of the objects could be within buildings or ship wreckage where your ship cannot fit. You would then have salvage versions of the ship launched fighters (SLFs) and SRVs that can get to the object, both should have strong floodlights and close range salvage scanners, which enable them to find and then scan to identify / confirm the mission object once they are within close proximity of it. The object can then be targeted and picked up as cargo by the SRVs or taken back to your ship by the salvage SLFs tractor beam (that’s a new feature of the salvage SLFs! ;) ).

This would make being a salvager a viable career in the game. I could see ships like the Keelback being used a lot more for this purpose, with it having the SLFs, and I for one would love doing this! [big grin]
