My particular circumstances find me without the necessary Raw Materials needed to complete some engineering projects. In my daily activities I acquire more than enough manufactured, and encoded mats, to keep me flush, but there is no raw mats. I have to purposefully go and collect these items. Mining and Prospecting are not keen interests of mine, not even the 'gold-rush' prices for platinum have seen me dust off my miner.
My suggestion is to allow cross trading of mats. Top grade of one type, Enc/Mfg/Raw mats, can be traded for an acceptable amount of a different type. Failing that sort of solution maybe FDev could add raw mats to the list of what drops after destroying a ship, or add a signal type for raw material collection.
In short, I guess, I'm just asking FDev to not make me mine/prospect. I don't have an issue with their respective mechanics, but it means that I have to break my game time up with activities I only value for the secondary rewards.
Well, think about it anyway...
P.S. The 'brain tree' process might as well be mining, and it's bit too exploity for my tastes.
