[Suggestion] - mining of a different sort

With the arrival of our new insectoidal overlords humanity will have to prepare for the worst.

How about a new set of missions - flying into areas of high risk Thargoid activity and dropping mines around. These might be around strategic locations in a system that has been threatened, or around derelict or damaged capital ships that need to be protected before salvage or rescue crews arrive.

They could be kind of like conflict zones. Sporadically appearing in thargoid hit systems, various zones appear which need to be guarded, mined, or have big ships which need to assistance if you've got repair limpets.

I was watching the pre-hubbub when it came to the surface attack against Thargoids pre 2.4 and let me tell you, the insects have reason to fear us and our hillbilly attitudes. Not the other way around.

The only problem with this is that the devs seem to be setting up the Thargoid "invasion" as they will only attack players if the players attack first. While the devs might think about this farther down the road, what you're suggesting here is unprovoked and pre-emptive of them. And not what we're looking forward to with 2.4.

Hell, I'm waiting to see if the Ammonia Worlds I've found scattered around Col 173 Sector will suddenly turn into Thargoid colonies (as it's been hinted Ammonia Worlds are the origin point for them).
