General Suggestion: "Mysterious Emissions" signal source in system far from bubble

Being an explorer since 3200 (I started with Frontier: Elite 2), I can say that one thing that make exploration exciting is the unknown, and the fear of it.
I believe that, in order to add more variety and tension to exploration missions, a "Mysterious Emissions" signal source may be considered, to be found in systems far from the bubble (i.e. >500ly). It will be a rarely spawned signal of course.

A curious explorer that investigates these emissions may find a variety of objects, some useful for data, some useless, some scary, some dangerous.

For example, a brief list of possible source of signals:
  • an ancient human probe
  • human ship wreckage
  • mysterious alien artifact (not Guardian, nor Tharg), maybe when scanned a loud and scary alien transmission fills the silent cabin...
  • alien (mysterious) ship wreckage, maybe dangerous if you get too close...

Everything you mentioned is already in the game or has already been in the game as a story telling mechanic. They change every few months cause they are hand crafted points of interest.
Although the origional crash sites and points of interest should still ne in the game.
Doing enough missions should give you a "tip" that starts a scavenger hunt for them

The idea of having a subset of signals that are not immediately recognized is great. Limiting them to only outside the bubble is less great. (They could still be far more common outside the bubble.) Having a massive risk reward potential to then would also be cool. (Possibly pirate ambush turned up to 11, or dozens of pharmaceutical isolaters, ltds, or a bread crumb leading elsewhere.)

Maybe once you hit elite (or some other high rank) the PF (or possibly a superpower/faction you are allied with) upload a software update to your ships sensor/computer that lets you detect these sorts of mysterious signals (possibly many distinct variants). (to shield new players from the insane risk etc, and provide some more things for experienced players to do / add more perks to being elite.)

The game has too much do A get B game play and spicing it up would be good.

Hells yes!
I am in total agreement, the galaxy has barely been explored, and exploration needs that extra element of trepidation.

Particularly love the mysterious new alien artifact.

Yes indeed, but they are, as you say, hand crafted point of interest. I think an unpredictable signal source may give us the "illusion" and the "thrill" to be discovering something unknown, something only us found... which is more exciting than following a path to an already known object.

Pro : That would add actual great interest for the game . Maybe add some on planet too. totaly supporting that

Con : That would add actual great interest for the game . Doubt FD approve that.

Would be awesome if it were occasionally the remains of an old FE2 ship - Panther Clipper anyone? Perhaps it could be a way to access these ships not already implemented in the game...

You mean that would need to show more effort from fdev? You know, more people, = more expectations, more maintenance etc. ?

Nah was just some joke on how FD managed to get the fun out of some great idea. I was a bit salty about upkeep , i'm still, but let's say more calm now ^^
Also i'm a bit disapointed on how some little tweak could make the game so much better and they take month or year to be fixed(or never). But i remembered everything we got and that I liked last years , i'm less salty now. Namaste.

Im not common guest on Elite communities so i'm not sure here.: Fleet Carriers was someone's idea, but Frontier implemented it in some twisted way? Or they just announced it bringing so much hype, and crushed everyone's dreams in the end?

I'd say that , but they are still good thing , just some people , me inclued that dislike some implementation that comes with . If you'r new dont bother with that , many like the FC as they are and they will still be great since the community will make them great ( DSSA is a realy good example)
