Suggestion: Sound notification with messages from other CMDR's

The subject kind of says it all.

Often, another CMDR will send me a message, perhaps asking if I want to do some 1 on 1 combat, or if I want to wing up, or even a simple hello. But I don't notice the message until too late. I feel bad that I didn't respond, it is not my intention to be rude and ignore the message.

It would be nice if there was an option to turn on a distinct audio notification sound when receiving a message from another command ... you know, like the text message notification on your cell phone (but of course, use a 34th century sound, not the iPhone ding :D ).

Of course, I would like this audio notification to be unique to CMDR's only, not the generic clutter of the bubble, like the wedding barge messages. The purpose of the notification is to notify me of a cmdr sending a message to me, so that I can respond to it.

Agreed. I miss so many messages through being in the Galmap (where they're completely unnoticeable) or in the Station screens (where they're almost unnoticeable). Sometimes I see them before the player who sent them has departed the instance... often not.

You might want to check your sound settings within the games options, your computer or simply stop listening to music and podcasts while you are engaged chatting with friends in game. There is a sound there that I hear quite clearly when not doing the same.

Barring the use of EDDI or other text to voice programs, I will add my two cents and simply suggest the ability to set a custom sound to it within the options so you can better hear when people are messaging you in game.
