Engineers Ships Suit builds

I’m interested in getting everyone’s ideas on various suit builds and associated engineering. With the reasoning behind each modification. Please post your builds with a short description of the suit’s intended use.

For example, I’m considering at least a couple of Maverick builds: max stealth, general purpose, combat scavenger…

Obvious Dominator builds for combat, but what specific suit and weapons engineering?

For Artemis, long range/duration, rough terrain, light combat exploration…

So let’s start trading ideas.

Builds I have in mind...

-Artemis (exploration): Improved Battery Capacity, Extra Backpack Capacity, Increased Air Reserves, Night Vision. Might trade NV for Improved Jump Assist;
-Maverick (stealth arch... scavenger): Improved Battery Capacity, Extra Backpack Capacity, Reduced Tool Battery Consumption (for heavy Arc Cutter use), Quieter Footsteps. Might swap tool battery one for Night Vision;
-Dominator (combat): Improved Battery Capacity, Extra Ammo Capacity, Faster Shield Regen, Damage Resistance. Maybe swap one for Night Vision or Combat Movement Speed.

Only suit I might have a duplicate for build purposes is the Maverick, maybe a combat scavenger like you said.

Loot Maverick: extra backpack, improved jump assist, quieter footsteps, night vision. (2/4 so far, the rest is locked behind other engies...)

I spend my time looting places, legally or not, so the backpack helps a lot. Also, stolen assets don't show up on scan, so it's always safe to collect these. Improved jump assist is a godsend to move from rooftop to rooftop when trying to avoid being scanned, quieter footsteps will help even more with not attracting attention and when getting in range for ID cloning or taser assassination, and night vision will just be additional quality of life.

I'm gonna do my Mave like this

Extra Backpack capacity
Extra Battery capacity
Night Vision
Faster shield regen*

* not sure about this one

I'm leaning towards (Maverick)
Reduced Tool Consumption
Improved Jump Assist
Quieter Footsteps
Nightvision

I've got the Reduced Tool Consumption already and it's made a huge difference for scavenging.

You mean that's a feature of the backpack upgrade? I've not heard that said before.
Err, no, I think it's a generic thing, and probably a bug, but right now, if you have stolen assets when you get scanned, you still pass the scan just fine for some reason. Stolen goods however will get you in trouble.

Artemis Sniper: Night Vision, Improved Jump Assist, Quieter Footsteps, Enhanced Tracking
Maverick Scavenger: Extra Backpack Capacity, Increased Sprint Duration, Reduced Tool Battery Consumption, Damage Resistance
Dominator Soldier: Damage Resistance, Extra Ammo Capacity, Faster Shield Regeneration, Improved Battery Capacity

And then maybe another Artemis suit as thief though the Sniper probably works similar.

Jeebus. It reminds me Dungeons and Dragons character builds.

Can i take spell focus (evocation)?

Assets currently don't have a stolen tag. It is either illicit / illegal or not. I hope it is not a bug, because how would anybody know?
Maybe the 1t canisters for ship cargo are individually tagged with a digital certificate.

I seem to remember that having stolen items in your backpack when scanned turned you hostile in the alpha, but they deliberately changed it. Now, it's only if you actually get seen taking them.

There are also contraband items that are illegal by default and will get you shot upon scan. But those are marked as such. And there should be a warning label active in the top left to indicate you are carrying contraband.

I'd swap out Faster Shield Regen for Improved Jump assist, letting you move about faster and get to high spots where you can rain death down upon unwary opponents if you so choose.

Maverick Assasin - Damage Resist, Shield Regen, Quite footsteps, Night vision.

Maverick Collector - increased backpack, improved battery capacity, quite footsteps, reduced tool consumption.

Dominator tank - Damage Resist, Shield Regen, improved battery capacity, ammo capacity

Considering also Dominator Assassin build similar to the first one (mainly because of the extra slot for primary weapon)

For Artemis - I will go for increased run speed and battery capacity. Not sure if going above grade 3 worth it for exploration, if I decide to go grade 5 optional slots are night vision and jump assist.

I do not see any reason to have combat oriented Artemis for now.

Having played with IJA for a while now, I'm in love. It's not just the verticality: horizontal momentum being preserved means that it does act as a longer sprint too if you start sprinting before jumping and use the thrust to extend the jump. Then you land on the run, jump again (no thrust), and by then it's charged up again. Pretty much non-stop sprint speed.

Speaking about suit mods, has anyone found clinical trial records? You need it for the sprint mod but I have yet to see a single one of them.

Good thread OP.

My initial thoughts are:

Maverick - Dirty Lowdown Lootist
Improved Backpack - Longer looting without going back to my ship. Interesting though - can I drop off loot at SRV?
Longer Sprint - I'm impatient, but the discussion on Jump Assist might change my view.
Nightvision - I've been landing my ship with lights on over dark settlements but I think this would be very handy
Undecided...increased battery / Quiet Footsteps / reduced tool usage

Dominator - Rubbish Soldier - I've not yet done any combat so this is all without experience
Tracking - I like my maps
Battery Cap - I've no idea how long I'll be fighting
Damage Resist - I'm a large target
NV - Surely a good advantage

Artemis - Exploration Suit - This is the one I'm really looking for info on
Battery Cap - I assume I could be out scanning for a long time, but will SRV recharge my battery?
Sprint - I am impatient but again, jump assist may be better
Reduced tool - Does the scanner use up battery?
Undecided - NV / Backpack (Is it even used when exploring?)

Yes.

Your SRV can also detect on-foot materials on its radar and recharges your battery if you hop in it.

There is basically no reason to upgrade any function of the Maverick suit because the absolutely correct way to loot a building is to park your SRV outside and then you have an infinite source of battery and storage. The only building you can't reliably strip bare in one run with the default backpack anyway is that really really big agricultural one.

Night Vision is irrelevant for combat because all the NPCs use flashlights making themselves completely obvious in the dark.

The only suit I'm planning to seriously upgrade is the Dominator, which is getting Damage Resist, Fast Shield Charge, More Ammo, and More Battery.

Yes you can. You can even climb to recharge for free, or restock consumables like at the ship. I hate the SRV though, so I beelined the backpack.

Yeah, I was torn on that one too. Went with IJA just because I had the mats and the engie, but no regrets now. I'm curious to hear about the comparison by anyone who tried both though. I guess high-G world would suit long sprint better, but I have yet to set foot on one.

Also, does anyone know if the extended scan range does extend the range of ID cloning? That would be pretty handy.
