Summer DLC Speculation 2023

After playing Zoo Tycoon as a kid, and way before the launch of Planet Zoo, I made several files of list of animals I would like in a game, sort of like a dream game. It started with 1,000 species and I managed to narrow it down to 300-250 core species ; so, with the current 153 habitat+exhibit animals we're still bound to miss out on many of our personal favourites. I wish that very much like the workshop functions with existing game pieces, Frontier would endorse mods (highly unlikely) or give out free alternative subspecies for the time being.

As much as I want South America to get their rainforest animals filled out, I think this Summer pack will be an Islands pack! And an animal pack, at that. Sign me up for this!

Are they that different from meerkats and prairie dogs?

When I consider that they have prehensile tails, brachiate, climb, and walk on all fours and upright, and also, have thumbs, plus are tiny - I can see why the devs may have issues getting them in game. I think our best case scenario is that we get them as a we animal with some predetermined guest interactions and looping animations, similar to butterflies

Yeah, I don't even really care all that much for the Sulawesi crested macaque in and of itself but I'm seriously trying to take any monkey I can get, so it's a lock in my current Islands Animal Pack wishlist. Is the coconut crab supposed to be a (walkthrough) exhibit, though? Honestly I'd like to see them as a habitat species or not at all, personally.

And of course I'd swap the serow for the tanuki, but so it goes.

Also, aren't you guys a bit bored of using the same African grasslands species ? I enjoy creating big savannah enclosures and considering we do not have the Crowned Crane, the Secretary Bird, Shoebill, or Saddle-Billed Stork (we don't have any African bird but the Ostrich...) and that many rarer Ungulate species + Serval, Leopard, what are you thoughts on a Safari Pack ?

(Down the line cause obviously higher-priority packs are deemed to happen)

They would manage to make a Safari Pack without a single bird or monkey, but 4 carnivores.

I could still see a rainforest animal pack or even a amazon animal pack happen, and i honestly really hope it does since the tropical pack left a lot to be desired for me. But i dont expect them to come back to back so we might have to wait a little.
-Two monkeys
-Ocelot or margay
-Tamandua
-Agouti
-Ibis or spoonbill
-Some seemingly inevitable clone idk brazillian tapir, another capuchin
And an Exhibit, preferably parrots or something or even the two toed sloth

Seems like a pack that people would buy and isnt to crazy animal wise i think

I really wasn’t betting on the tropical pack, all of my previous bets are still on. Also since the pattern has changed, I’m betting the next is an animal dlc. I also will bet that there will be a representation of european, North America or North Asia in this go around.

Once again, I would have expected more Animal Packs in 2023. I'm fairly happy with existing building pieces. I feel like a lot of zoo enthusiasts are now craving for some more plants and animals. And if we follow the scenery pack+animal pack, it means we'll only get 11 new habitat species in 2023, which will upset quite a lot of us considering most of our narrowed-down wishlist contain between 25 and 50 species.

I'm not super big on monkeys in general, but the crested is hilariously expressive! Tanuki is good too, but considering it'd be another canid I went with another goat of which we only have one.

It would just be the same ungulate, feline, canine template pack somehow and you know it. They're running out of ratites (the only one major one left being from SA and we all know how much they love SA) so they won't add any more birds.

Tropical biomes are very rich diversity-wise but when conceiving a temperate-only area for my zoos, it's true we're lacking a lot of cold-resistant species.

Lets imagine something

  • Black Rhino (that is actually almost the same appearance of a white rhino)
  • African Leopard (less furry than Amur Leopard)
  • Olive Baboon (A good choice cause we don't have a "true baboon" just the mandril)
  • Secretary Bird (omg a new bird in PZ)
  • African Crested Porcupine (very requested by community)
  • Greather Kudu (a big, beautiful ungulate to inrich a safari park)
  • Massai Giraffe (another clone, but we have 2 giraffes in Zoo Tycoon 2 for example)
  • I don't know what safari animal can be an walkthrought exhibit, so I chose Black Mamba for a common exhibit
