Summer DLC Speculation 2023

In my opinion the Fossa was the MOST requested Island species.
We got 3 lemurs already. And a Fossa.

Most "island dlc" just look like Oceania dlc with a walrus.

So, personally I would 1000% percent prefer an Oceania dlc.
The Caribbean, Galapagos, Madagascar don't really need representation.
Neither does Indonesia.
But Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Tasmania, and the South Pacific (all Oceania) are still very underrepresented.
Oceania animal pack would be great, but less appealing than it would be before the grassland pack.

Addax would be okay. It is popular and in my opinion different enough to the Scimitar Horned Oryx. Clearly a better choice than the Arabian Oryx in my opinion. Nevertheless I wish for the Kirk Dik Dik in both your suggestions, be it Drylands or Safari Pack. We do not have any dwarf antelope species, they are clearly distinct to all other antelopes within the game, can be mixed together with a lot of species and last but not least it is my personal most wished animal. Somali Wild Donkey would be cool, too. We do not have a real donkey within the game until now.
Yeah I would also love to have a smaller antelope and smaller deer.

But for me the black rhinoceros is one of the most underrated animal that comes to mind.

I would much prefer the addax, but considering Frontier's track record the Arabian oryx feels far more likely. I mean they made us pay for a second wildebeest in the Grasslands Pack instead of something far more unique like the blackbuck. No matter how good the blue wildebeest looks, it was never worth a DLC slot.

I am torn between my personal love of the Arabian oryx snd the objective fact it doesn't bring a lot to the game but is a likely reskin. I'd still pick it over the addax so we could have a middle eastern antelope.

TBH in terms of gameplay not many animals bring something new to the game. The addax will be pretty much the same, same with the bluckbuck, because it would be just a another antelope rig.

Their only true value is that they are an option for zoo sections based on a specific region. But other than that you could just place a gemsbok in the exhibit and it won't change anything lol

To me, the only antelopes that still bring something new to the table:

The strange 2, Gerenuk and Saiga
The biggest, Giant Eland
The smallest, Dik-Dik (there are smaller I think, but they are sooo obscure)
The Asiatic one, Blackbuck
The fastest one, Topi
The prettiest, Great Kudu

Other than those, I’d don’t really care for more antelopes, Addax, Grants gazelle and Impala’s are vanille to me, pretty meh, I would not mind Nilgai, but all these others are more desired by myself

But honestly the two wildebeests look much more different to each other than the Arabian Oryx compared to the Gemsbok. The only big difference I can see on pictures is the coloration. There are surely some size differences as Wikipedia says but this is difficult to see on the pictures. I would say blue vs black wildebeest is more comparable to Gemsbok vs Scimitar Horned Oryx.

I agree with that. People keep saying they're just too similar to white rhinos which is not true.
Besides I know there are a handful of zoos that keeps three species of rhinos worldwide.
I really dislike the black rhino choice because it actually is that different from the white rhino. That would probably mean a lot of new animations, something I would rather see invested into other species.

Lol what new animations. If the indian and white rhino can share a rig I'm sure the black rhino can as well.
They definitely can and I don't believe that there must be a completely new rig. But there definitley should be new animations for running, and at least a browsing animation, without these a black rhino doesn't make any sense at all.

Did blue wildebeest get different animations from the black wildebeest, and did the spectacled caiman get different animations from the dwarf caiman?
If they did I have not noticed.

A clone in my humble opinion does NOT need new animations, I just think about the clones in the game, they don't seem like they were given unique animations.
If we got Alpaca, I would not fuss if they did not come with new animations lol. What specific animation is unique to black rhinos but not to white rhinos?

It seems Frontier likes to add at least one unique animation to each new animal recently, correct? If so, I'd assume the black rhino would get one but still have many of the same ones as the other rhinos. I really want this species, but I can understand why others wouldn't.

The blue wildebeest thing- It was kind of painful that we didn't get a more original antelope species. I HATED its inclusion at first. But once I learned that almost no zoos even keep black wildebeest, I was happy to have the more common option. They also look great too! I know not everyone cares about this criterion though.

Somali wild donkey from the Horn of Africa and critically endangered Addax from the west Africa are absolute essentials to me in any kind of a deserts/drylands animal pack - although I don’t think that this kind of pack is very possible because we’ve got many desert animals in the grasslands pack already.

Both of those species would also work were well as an Anniversary animals.

I understand that we have a lot of antelope species now but Addax is special and unique in so many ways. Last year we’ve got 3 new antelope species. I don’t see why this year should be any different. Just look how small they are comparing to scimitars.

Somali wild donkey would add tons of new behaviors and sounds that only donkey poses and at the same time they would not be that hard to make from zebra or horse model.
Also they are so pretty and endangered so I hope they would be added to the game as an odball species.

Dromadery would be nice but doesn’t do anything to me just as baboon. I would not be unhappy with it but I don’t fully understand their popularity.

Porcupine would make many people very happy so I am giving my vote to those.

Peccary and ocelot are for me definitely more connected with woodlands rather than drylands. So I would not include them in Drylands pack.

Species that are worth mentioning for Drylands an animal pack:
1. Echidna
2. Patagonian mara
3. Greater rhea
4. Honey badger
5. Chameleon, gecko or cobra.

Instead of Drylands AP my pick would be a Safari animal pack that would nicely implement the roster and Africa DLC:

Porcupine
Secretary Bird
Baboon
Black rhinoceros
Serval
Somali wild donkey
Addax
Ex: Jackson’s chameleon
WE: Touraco species

And Dromadery as a anniversary animal that everyone would be happy about 🤷🏽
Totally agree we need addax and somali wild donkey in a desert pack !

What specific animation is unique to black rhinos but not to white rhinos?
From what I understand, black rhinos are browsers and white rhinos are grazers so the way they use their lip would be different per day; the black rhinos would have more prehensile lip than whites.

Edit: also a different running motion I think.
