Super Sidewinder - Maximum Engineering

here is mine:
i think, you guys and girls might appreciate my brand new toy nearby as much as i do - called "Kaguya":

as a small ship cmdr it was time to get back into the smallest ship.

after having a lot of fun at the last BHing CG in my eagle, i thought for the current one i'll need the luxury of a second utility slot :) - i didn't went the all-lightweight way as with my eagle and courier, but combined military bulkheads with a lightweight modification, running a bi-weave, overcharging weapons.... anyway: still boosting to 600 m/s and jumping >20 ly.

the dimensions of other ships and asteroids in the ring are so amazing in a sidewinder, and i always liked the fly model of the sidey with its great combination of low straight line speed and manoverability (the only ship i have flown FAOFF for an extended period).

ah, and currently top 25% in the CG :D

I'm doing up my original Sidewinder now. Currently it's as fast as an A rated Cobra Mk III, and running a pair of efficient beams, and has a jump range of 25 ly. I'm sure it can be made better, but I'm all good with "good enough". I just have the shields to tweak up then I'm pretty much done.

So, has anyone maxed out their Sidewinders with Engineers?

Im thinking of doing it for fun.

I need my itty bitty bling boat.

I did this several months ago where I put overcharged incendiary multicannons, enhanced performance thrusters with a dirty drive tune and thermal shield mods to see how much performance I could get out of it. I managed to get a great Grade 3 dirty drive tune that had a secondary that removed most of the optimal mass penalty which is particularly useful with enhanced performance thrusters (they have a very low optimal mass and are extremely sensitive to weight changes). Due to this mod I can keep the weight below the optimal mass threshold even with military alloys fitted so I don't have to strip it down to get the full flight performance out of it. I'm very happy with the overall performance and the acceleration and maneuverability are quite impressive.

not a sidewinder, but in a similar vein I have invested a lot into my Eagle MK 2. Enhanced Drives, 2x rails to pack some punch, a PP modded to support it ... having a lot of fun in it.

I use mine as taxi / scout inside the bubble. Although I did a 5000ly trip to Herschel 36, to unlock Palin in it.
It is my original starter ship with 'loaned' hull.

PS. no armament

Mine is a surface ship. Armed with a fixed multi and dumbfire for attacking groundattack, and comes with a scoop, ADS, DSS and SRV. No shield. :) Mega-fast, mega-agile. :D

Very much like mine but I have a 1a scoop, 2D shield, no DSS.
I love it. It is my main ship. If you loaded up my game, that's the ship that you would be greeted with :)

Nice. I'm going to pimp my Hauler Taxi

I've just started kitting one out for material and data gathering, as well as general taxi duties. FSD range 5, low power shield and dirty drives so far. Now I just need a name for it.

You betcha!
Everything A/G5
Rail and thermal vent efficient fixed beam
Efficient pp
Weapons focussed disty.
G5 dirty drive thrusters.

It's not very practical but it is fun to troll with.
