Supercruise Assist button?

I was only ever able to find it in the nav panel when you select your destination while already in supercruise.
Kind of weird that I can't say "engage supercruise and assist"... Why do I have to engage, then return to the nav panel to enable assist?

Dunno. I expect I won't use it much as the slowness bothers me.

I'm agreeing with all this, too.
Doesn't seem super well thought about, making it live only in the nav panel with no mapping, and the way it will keep pulling you even after you're trying to steer away after orbit... seems like there could have been some kind of intelligence too it where it will have a breakaway threshold or something, if they aren't going to make it mappable.

Why aren't there modifier keys to the super cruise key? I don't know.

Put Supercruise Asist on, tried it a couple times, found it of little use since it's counter productive when it comes to planetary landings. Removed it and said thanks to Frontier for the extra small slot.

The docking computers are more impressive, but still of little use to me since I enjoy landing. Again thanks for the slot.

+1. Especially the docking computers.

If you're using a particular hotas.. you end up with at least one direction of thrusters not being mapped to a good axis.. the most fun way to do landings with a docking computer is to fly there completely to the point where you stop enjoying it, then kick in the docking computer. For me its directly above the pad. I know you can just zero throttle to do this, but being able to pause and rp it a bit more would be fun.

And combined with on ground bases there's a weird rule i haven't been able to work out where if you zero throttle in the wrong way or wrong altitude it boosts an arbitrary distance back in the air and does it again.. Which requires control.

The tool is designed for don't care players.. i know... just sigh.

This is basically what I do. It bugs me therefore that they changed the mechanics so that docking computer will still try to take over even in Flight assist off, it will turn flight assist back on. In the past I would use flight assist off to get to where I needed to be in a large build like a cutter or a Corvette, by drifting, and then basically go FA on, full-throttle through the mail slot and kick in the docking computer right as the nose of my ship is entering the slot. The docking computer would take a while to overcome the inertia but it would.
