Surface Scanner Issues

Hey everyone. I've been trying to use the new features on the surface scanner and I map a body and try to cycle through the filters to find life or surface features but the coverage is to spotty on the bodies to see the filters. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Or just a part of Odyssey being Odyssey?

I have it around 50:50 chance that the planet either stays completely blue or I am able to cycle through heatmaps.
I'd say it's just Odyssey being Odyssey.

What about geological sites? Do they still exist? I can't find anything with the Surface scanner. Even if I land in the blue zones, there are no minerals, no geysers, etc.

I'm having a problem mapping planets. They turn into a black circle and the grid of mapped area is so dark I have to get really close to the planet to see it. Is it my settings, or the game? I have yet to see geological hotspots - everything is just blue after I map a planet - or totally black. The attachment is a gas giant that is 82% mapped and I'm on the sun side of the planet.

Your scan is not complete. The blue area has been explored, the black area not yet. You have to fire a few more limpets into the black area with your surface scanner so that you get at least 90%.

Gas Planet???

No, you need to find landable planets that have volcanic features or ones with biological features. You do that in the FSS.

Then you map the planet and you then get the heat map. Scroll through the filter to find what pleases you most. Geological Features will normally all appear in the same area. Then head down to any part of the planet that is covered by the Blue area. Switch modes to see the ground and pick an area that looks like I might have flat area to land, or look interesting.

Then drive around. For geologicals, look for the ground features that look like what you are after, or the minerals features like Piceous Cobbles that used to appear on the Horizons vents and stuff.

Then you find these:

I know gas giants don't have geological. I'm saying that when I'm at a landable planet I never see anything on the heat map. Everything is just light blue, changing the filters does nothing. It's being reported other places in the forum. The black circle of a planet in the surface scanner is a separate thing. Apparently related to contrast everywhere according to what I'm reading.

Oh - okay. The heat map was removed. Apparently it was "too complicated for people"... I'm saying nothing.

So release it's just blue.

I'm a "vote with your remote" kinda guy. I posted something, up voted on reddit, and went back to Dyson Sphere Program. This is a HUGE update. They will get all this worked out and I will be ready to play. Also, there's still Horizons and it's working fine. I appreciate your feedback. Great screenshots!

I know I'm doing something wrong, I don't even get the choice to cycle heatmaps at all. As soon as I fifnish scanning, it goes back to normal color, and that's it.
