Surface scanning - what's missing

I love surface scanning, just have done 6 hours full system scan/surface scan loop and it is really good.

However, I would like to find more stuff. So, I would like to see temporary POIs discoverable that way. I know lot of signal sources on surfaces are generated as you fly above or drive, but some might be revealed trough scan, similar as system SS at this point.

I would like to have better surface map too. Currently we can see it in system map, but zoom levels don't go far enough.

Other than that, having greatest time in ED for long time.
 
I’d love to see more surface work... a coding drill for the SRV, soil samples, more scientific tools for analyzing alien life forms and geologic structures.

We have a pretty deep trading system, we’ve got a very deep well if combat tools.
But the scientific side is still fairly lacking. How about a “Research Laboratory’” module to allow us to conduct some real research? Let it generate “Reseach Data” transaction items, comparable to Intel Data. Suddenly that opens new avenues of game play and CG opportunities.
 
A surface scan could give you a number of search zones for POIs, if the planet qualifies, and then you could check them out if you feel like it. Means none of those POIs need to be generated on the planet until you find them. They would also time out, similar to USS's. But with more stuff to discover and landing on the contacts, the more dire will be the need for more filter options.
